We all know Star Wars Episode I was a bit of a Phantom Menace, but its Nintendo 64 tie-in title Star Wars Episode I: Racer was a lot of fun. It also holds the Guinness World Record for best-selling sci-fi racer of all-time, beating out the cult classic franchises like WipEout and F-Zero. Despite all of that it never actually released on a PlayStation platform – until now.

Lucasfilm and Aspyr has announced that the legendary 1999 release is being revamped for PlayStation 4, with modernised controls, cleaner visuals, and split-screen multiplayer. “Speed through flaming methane lakes, Tusken Raider assaults, anti-gravity tunnels, and much more in a pulse-pounding, do-or-die fight to the finish line,” the press release reads.

sweet i love this game but the N64 version is a bit hard to play now a days
Still my favorite SW movie.
Really fun game! When my wife and I first got married, one of the first purchases we made was an N64. We would then race in Mario Kart or Pod Racer to decide stuff like who would do the dishes, take out the trash, where we would go to dinner etc.
We had a blast, and to this day I am proud of our super fun conflict resolution system. We have been together over 20 years now, so the system worked!

I am far from the first to say this, but if they remastered or remade Tie Fighter and put it on console, I would hand whoever did it all my money.

I was surprised today when looking on the PS Store seeing DOOM 64 on there. Hopefully all N64 games will come to the PS4/5 then Yes of course they won't but GOD I LOVED Perfect Dark and GoldenEye Mainly the 4 player split-screen mode was sooooo much FUN with 3 mates back in the day

I like the prequels. The Star Wars I don't like is everything they have done since Disney bought the franchise. I don't like any of the new movies of the new canon at all.
I'll take Jar Jar over "I am one with the force the force is one with me" blind monks and bastardized Rogue Squadron stories any day!
And "Sand is rough and coarse and gets everywhere" is way better than "I'm Rey, Rey Skywalker!" lol

Awesome, I have an N64 and this but I don't have a CRT and it plays horribly on a HD TV (as do many N64 games). So this will be a day one purchase for me.
It was a fun game. I got the N64-Racer combo which is still in its box in my basement.
But a re-release of this game makes me wonder why we see so many re-releases. Will we see even more with the PS5 ?

I first played it in store on the N64, but I bought it for the Dreamcast which had the much better version, so I don't think of this as an N64 game.
