Remember Granblue Fantasy: Relink? The promising PlayStation 4 action role-playing game first caught our eye all the way back in January 2018, when some great looking gameplay footage hit the web. Back then, it was being developed by action specialists Platinum Games, but at the start of this year, Japanese juggernaut Cygames -- the company behind the Granblue franchise -- announced the developer's departure from the project. From that point on, Cygames itself would handle Relink. The thing is, we've heard very, very little about the title since.
Thankfully, it looks like the wait for new information is almost over. Granblue Fantasy Fes 2019 -- a Japanese convention celebrating the property -- is set for the 13th December, running until the 15th. According to franchise director Tetsuya Fukuhara, Granblue Fantasy: Relink will resurface at the event with a new trailer.
"As for the Granblue Fantasy: Relink trailer, the Osaka studio worked hard on it, so please look forward to it," Fukuhara teased on Twitter (thanks Gematsu for the translation).
Relink will show up alongside a fresh trailer for Granblue Fantasy Versus, the Arc System Works fighting game that's set to release early next year in the West.

I'm also hoping it shows up at The Game Awards with a western confirmation! GIVE EET TOO MEEE!
Just rewatched some of the previously released gameplay, and it really did look amazing. Hopefully it looks as good if not better when we see it again.
I hope it looks good even without Platinum's involvement. To be fair, the lack of gameplay since their departure is slightly worrying but I'll give them a chance, even if I still have absolutely no clue what the franchise actually is.
i forgot about this, it looked amazing the last time i saw it so i can't wait to see what's new after so long
@Mintie It's already confirmed for the west. https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2019/02/26/granblue-ps4-games-simultaneous-release/
Cool. Actually pretty excited to see more of this.
Can’t wait for this, versus looks good but I’m more excited for this game 😃
Been waiting on news for this game for what seems like forever! Finally it looks like we have something...I'm very excited for this one.
About god damn time. I was starting to think this was vaporware in development hell that was never coming out like Deep Down or dead island 2.
Man, I've been waiting for a release date for so long...
@nessisonett they claim that most of Platinums work is still in the game despite their departure. I hope that's true
That's awesome and all, but CyGames, don't forget that there is another project of yours due to an awakening and needs to arisen.
@ShogunRok this looks pretty good, but is it part of a series or a standalone game?
@nessisonett platinum did the work they do on games that they don't completely develop and release themselves.
they did their work and left.
they were involved.
@ellsworth004 It's a standalone action RPG that's based on the world and characters of Granblue Fantasy, which is an immensely popular and successful mobile game in Japan. A lot of the characters also appear in an anime of the same name.
@ShogunRok thanks for the info!
This game looked amazing in the trailers. Looking forward to see more of this as well as Tales of Arise.
I really need to give GBF another try. It’s just that Dragalia takes up so much time as it is, but maybe when I start my doctorate this fall and am in front of my computer more often I can have it autoing or something in the background.
I was thinking about this game a few days ago wondering what had happened to it. Glad to hear all is well.
Gives me a Tales/Xenoblade vibe. Looking forward to this.
@nessisonett it's an amazing looking JRPG, Platinum were involved in the art and animation. The IP is Granblue. If that alone doesn't grab you then I'd suggest GTA dear.
Release date or nothing. This game has been stuck in dev hell for the past 2 years.
This anime serie deserve more love and recognition from the west....
