Feature: Assassin's Creed Odyssey Season Pass Review - Is It Worth Buying?

I know this isn't a review, but if anyone's got any specific questions about the game, any of the DLC, or the season pass in general, just @ me and I'll try to answer them.

This whole article could have just been one word and that’s yes lol. I mean for 40 dollars you’re getting like 30 to 40 hours of new content just from the two expansions and getting two remastered AC games that combined would take like 50 or more hours to beat. It’s easily one of the best season passes quality and quantity wise from a triple AAA game this gen

The game is fun and all but I started my 2nd playthrough of HZD and goodness the game is just something else. I can't repeat this enough, the graphics first off for an open world is insane! The mounts are more realistic than those AC horses or Roach. The combat of both games is crazy fun but HZD has the edge because defeating a Trampler or Behemoth not to mention a Thunderjaw or Fireclaw is far more satisfying than say alpha animals or a minotaur in Odyssey. The sound of the machines, their AI is just incredible. No wonder Kojima was impressed. Sorry I just can't stop praising HZD, it needs more praise just as equal or even more than GoW.

The only real value for money season pass I recall paying for was with Fallout New Vegas.

I have really enjoyed this season pass, and I feel that I have got value for money. Still Got the last episode to go as well as AC3 ( Ezio Collection first though, I got that cheap and it has sat on my shelf ever since)

I'm more than happy with what we got. All the story expansions were cool and it was nice to also get a copy of Assassin's Creed III Liberation HD with it.

With the price of the gold version costing me less than the actual season pass alone it’s exceptional value.

The III and liberation inclusion is played down here when it really is a great addition.

I haven’t started any of the DLC yet so it was nice to read this

@TheArt Horizon Zero Dawn has the best combat of any open world game I've ever played and is visually the most appealing open world game I've played due to excellent 4K upscaling and best in class HDR implementation. I don't feel its story gets enough praise either, sure many of the side quests aren't great but the main quest line is very good with surprises right up until the end and it's one of those rare open world games that just runs flawlessly.

As for Odyssey I enjoyed my time immensely with the base game but there is just too much content in that so I never got round the the dlc. In reality they could do with cutting many of the bases and fake regional wars and incorporate many more of these fantasy elements for you to discover in the base game and some of its side quests are genuinely brilliant, so more of those and less of the camps next time please

@carlos82 Even the collectables give you story the first game i didnt feel that i wasted time on collectables. I played 20 hours in the opening area because the gameplay is so much fun. In the end i spend 100 plus hours too Platinum it now too start the expansion and the last bit of collectables. 😆

100% Yes! Season Pass has really been worth every penny (not even touched AC3 yet)

Really great effort all around by Ubisoft. They said they would bring AC back to shape and they have.

@carlos82 I can only imagine how it looks in 4KHDR cause the base 1080p is still top notch. True, I didn't pay much attention to the story cause like @flaming_kaiser the graphics, the combat, the sound, the characters, the unique outfits( I mean look at them Oseram Arrowbreaker boots), the carefully designed machines and their detailed behaviours all got my attention. It's simply one of the best games ever created! And even more solid with the Frozen Wilds expansion. HZD2 will be an incredible launch title for the PS5.

I still need to get around to playing Origins, but the Atlantis DLC for this sounds really fun. I'm liking how the more recent AC games are leaning into the fantastical.

It’s simply incredible how much content games give us these days, even before considering DLC.

@Orpheus79V Oh god, you're right! I must have been thinking about the other Ass Creed game they did for the PSP.

How does this game compare with the original in terms of how the gameplay feels. I got the original AC long ago and didn't really enjoy it at all so I never got another since. I just didn't enjoy how it felt to move around or the combat.

Great for me so much like Origins I got the game on both PS4 and Xbox one X

It sounds like a great game but it's a turnoff you have to follow the assassins storyline. It'd be cooler just to be an ancient Greek game.

Whole game is a biggest disappointment for a long time for me. Boring gameplay and microtransaction killed this game in my eyes.

Best of the whole package was AC III remastered.

I agree the amount of content is amazing, but for me the main game is becoming a chore.
The graphics and whole game are superb, but suppose we are all different

@JoeBlogs HZD is a phenomenal game which had to share its shine with BotW. I think Naughty Dog is right to discontinue Uncharted if I'm correct. There's this narrative dissonance with gentleman Drake who guns down millions. I'll certainly hope they try openworld, if Guerilla were able to do it, ND should be more than capable.

@thefirst they're turd, so any dlc will also be turd in my opinion, because as the old saying goes 'you can't polish a turd'.

After much consideration on the subject I have found that the most funny way to spell Turd is actually Terd.

I'm gonna have to pick this up again. I played it at launch, enjoyed it, but found it too big and long and got distracted by other games. Now that I have about 2 months before Borderlands 3 releases, I'll probably pick up AC Odyssey again and finish it. Really enjoy the combat and open world of the newer games compared to the earlier ones.

I was pretty burnt out on the AC franchise and by Unity, AC2 had still not been bettered.

Might be time to jump back in with Origins/Odyssey to see what I’ve been missing...

I'll let you know when I finally get to the DLC. Still haven't finished making my way through the rest of this enormous game.

@ShogunRok Other than the story dlc do you get any weapons, armour or mounts or any helix credits at all? I'm playing the main game at the moment and I am interested in the dlc but it's pointless to buy now unless I finish the main story right?

@Sladey69 Nah, the season pass doesn't include any of the weapons/armour DLC packs. I think you might get a couple of items but that's it (and I might be thinking of the different editions you can buy, rather than the season pass itself).

And yeah, you basically need to finish the main story before you can start either DLC saga. Worth playing through the game first and then deciding if you want the season pass.

I am playing right now on for the first time (base game) and I have always struggled to get through AC games but I must say, except for the excessive grind, the game is pretty good and this is one of the most polished open worlds I have seen.

Has a new AC game been announced for this year (or are they having a year off)? If it has I can’t think of it!

Bet this is Sony Europe's issue. They do this all the time. Wednesday is when games usually go on sale, so i expect they will apply the discount then

Yeah I got the game for my birthday on day of release, I completed the game but stopped playing because I didn't have the season pass, I loved the whole franchise and I wanna play the Atlantis Dlc so much but I'll be checking after midnight as well right up to the September deadline and if I do t get it I'll be complaining to Sony/PlayStation and Ubisoft until I do get it lol 😂

I didn't care much for the 2nd part, but it was worth it as a whole. Definitely a lot of extra game to play for a decent price, Especially on sale.

I am still playing Odyssey so clearly I am enjoying it. I also think the expansions are worth the price of the Season Pass.
However, I don't like how even after paying £90! for this game, I still have to go into the Store if I wanted any of the nice gear sets on offer. It may seem like a contradiction to me saying I thought the Season Pass was good value, but these gear sets should have been included in the Season Pass. But because of how Ubisoft is monetizing this game, I very much doubt I will buy the Season Pass for the next game. Let us not forget how CDPR gave away 16 FREE DLCs to everyone, even if you didn't buy the Season Pass. It is therefore greed that is causing Ubisoft to employ such egregious monetization tactics.

@TheArt for me HZD the best game in this generation.

You get ACIII Remastered, which comes with The Tyranny of King George DLC and also AC Liberation Remastered. Then you get the Legacy of the First Blade DLC, which is... mediocre (imo lol), but the first two episodes of the Fate of Atlantis are pretty well done by comparison with the last episode - Judgment of Atlantis - being, err, well, somewhat disappointing to say the least, but it's still filled with fun times. lol

Still, you get hours an hours of content for a pretty good price. Most people pay 15 dollars to see a 2-hour movie. Here, you're getting upwards of about 300 hours of content (in all) for a comparatively low price. It's really up to you and how much of an AC fan you are, but I'd say yeah, I think it's all pretty worth it.

@TheArt Its the GOTG wait untill you find the collectables. Its the first time i found a good reason too look for them without the reason being a trophy. 😉
