Netflix, the huge, subscription based entertainment giant, is currently producing a TV adaptation of The Witcher, following the immense success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. All we've seen so far, though, is a very brief preview of Henry Cavill in character as Geralt. We should get to see a little more pretty soon, as it's been reaffirmed that the show is set to debut in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos said as much during a recent earnings call, where he commented on the progress of the series: "And then you start seeing later in the fourth quarter some of our bigger film investments coming through like ‘Irishman,’ like ‘6 Underground’ and also a big new original series that we’re currently shooting in Hungary called ‘The Witcher,’ that is an enormous European IP, very popular game and Book IP, that we think is going to make a really fun global series."
So, you can look forward to watching towards the end of this year. Are you looking forward to it? Ride Roach into the comments below.
In addition to the above, I also hope it doesn't follow my own personal storyline - baiting mobs on death march, giving up and playing Gwent for hours.
@Shellcore I'd love that, 3 episodes of Geralt swimming in the ocean near Skellige to collect useless loot
I came here just for the hilarious tag line.
I cant take that hair seriously.
Looking forward to this, people have to try and separate cdp's Witcher from this. it's an adaptation from the books not the video games.
hopefully they'll do the story justice.
That bum-chin just gets me every time. I cannot take Geralt seriously with that chin, I just can't.
I'm really hoping that this won't be s**t.
@NintendoFan4Lyf Actually I'd love to see Roach run away when Geralt walks towards her without whistling.
Probably gonna be bad. It's Netflix after all.
If they can nail this it would be great timing for them. GOT is ending and that fan base will be searching for a fantasy show.
Stuffed Unicorns confirmed?
@Constable_What Yeah, it's not as if they've had original content that's won Oscars, Baftas and Golden Globes or anything... (Not that this Witcher series will, but still, that's a ridiculously groundless comment).
Groundless comments on the internet!? Oh no!
It's probably still going to suck like most of their other stuff.
Politics already killed this show, it's gonna be a 💩fest. Oh well, we have the books and the games, so it's all good 👍
Finally, we can see Nvidia Hairworks actually being used.
Sweet! Between this and the GoT spinoff next season set on TV.
Should get some make up to cover up some of that bum chin.
