We can’t help but feel old when we consider there's an entire generation of gamers who haven’t seen PlayStation 2 copies of XIII in a GAME bargain bin. But with the cel-shaded shooter now being over 15 years old, there will be kids sitting their GCSEs this summer who are younger than the artistically inspired FPS.

For those of you out of the loop, this comic book conversion made something of a splash in the early noughties purely because of its art-style. Hot on the heels of releases like Jet Set Radio, the thick outlines and primary colours meant that it looked quite unlike any of the other shooters on the market at the time. Clearly publisher Microids believes that selling point still has some pull as it’s planning a remake for the PlayStation 4 – and it’s due out 13th November.

“Our goal is to bring XIII’s compelling story to a new generation of players with the best possible graphics and animation,” wrote François Coulon, Head of Production on the PlayStation Blog. “The result will be nothing short of spectacular as we promise to celebrate the amazing work done on the original game.”
