Ooooh, now things are getting spicy. Following on from BioWare teasing a Dragon Age-related announcement last week, VentureBeat reports that Dragon Age 4 is indeed in development at the studio, and yes, BioWare is going to show something Dragon Age-related at The Game Awards. Put two and two together and you have to assume that we'll see a very early glimpse of Dragon Age 4 at Geoff Keighley's event later this week.
However, sources say that Dragon Age 4 is "at least three years away", so whatever we see on Thursday night, it's probably not going to be anything significant. The report also states that BioWare hasn't even settled on an official title for the project yet.
Interesting stuff, but are you bothered about seeing the next Dragon Age supposedly so early? Heat things up in the comments section below.

I'm fine with that. I didn't expect much to begin with. Maybe, though ... Just maybe, we will hear an announcement of a Mass Effect trilogy remastered. I highly doubt it, but man, I'd love it.
I still expect the next Dragon Age game to share more in common with Anthem than the rest of the series. I just don't see EA greenlighting a large single player game anymore.
I think game devs and publishers should just wait until the game is close to being completed, like within a year to announce or release any info on it. Take Dead Island 2 for example. Announced at E3 2014 (if i remember correctly) and i still have no clue what is going on with that game now over 4 years later. Yes delays happen, and in this case i think they changed dev studios as well. And like Elder Scrolls 6, all we got was a 30 second trailer or whatever. I dont mind that, but dont show off any early gameplay until the product is closer to release.
Why show it then. 😑
Let's just rename this site to RumorSquare, right? If there's nothing meaningful to report on, why spread rumors like tabloids?
@NecuVise Except this is based on a report from a proven, reliable source? What do you want us to do, exactly?
And trust me, there are a lot of rumours we don't report on — way more than the ones that we actually do.
If it's three years out then don't show it. Depending on how Anthem goes EA might have put Bioware down within that time anyway.
I'm happy just to know it's in development. After the way inqustition ended I'm looking forward too seeing the continuation of the story
@ShogunRok well, this one MAY be okay, but just take a look how many rumour news have been posted in the last few or a month. I thinks it's a little too much.
Edit: why even spread rumors for something literally a few days away?
@ShogunRok
And the source is!?
Another site reporting the same tweet everyone saw and trying to guess?
@NecuVise
I agree with you. More so that other official news announcing they ll reveal at GA aren't even reported by Pushsquare.
maybe they are doing this to ensure a saftey net incase anthem doesn't do well?
granted it won't release soon at all (ps5 game) but maybe they are showing something about it so early just to let people know,not to leave bioware behind if anthem fails or does not do well with the fans.
@JJ2 @NecuVise If we think a rumour has weight then we're going to report on it. Likewise, if there's a rumour going around that's clearly absolute rubbish, then we're going to report on that too.
If we don't comment on speculation then we may as well just be rewriting press releases.
@JJ2 I honestly sometimes feel that some of the articles are too clickbaity, and just by reading the headline you know there'll be lots of comments, and not meaningful ones unfortunately. I understand site needs traffic to support itself, but man, let's not go that low.
@ShogunRok or you could try and do something like columns, interviews etc? It's okay to have a rumour every now and then, but lately it's too often. Let's not forget there was an article on dragon age speculation literally five days ago on this very site: https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2018/11/bioware_teases_dragon_age_news_coming_before_the_end_of_the_year
@NecuVise that post you just linked contained acutall proof from bioware themselves so ofcourse they are going to report on it.
now they are reporting on this rumor (which does have some weight to it) because it is relevant to that previous dragon age article you linked and unlike other rumors is actually worth discussing because again there is some validity behind it.
@NecuVise Well yeah but that's because it's a developing story. This is a direct continuation of that story because a reputable site is weighing in on it.
As for interviews and columns, we'd love to do editorial stuff more often, but the reality is that we're a gaming website and this industry moves incredibly fast. Our first priority is to always stay up to date with everything PlayStation and that's what we attempt to do.
You'll also find that when we reach this time of the year, the industry all but shuts down. All the next big new games are scheduled for release in the following year, and PR companies have very little to do. The domino effect is that there's very little "official" news to go on, and so leaks, rumours, and speculation spring up ahead of something like The Game Awards.
And I don't want to come across as smug, but if you look at the kind of rumours similar sites report on, I like to think that Push Square is a definite cut above.
Despite what people may think, we probably take "clickbait" and perception more seriously than anyone else here, because ultimately it's our responsibility to provide reliable content.
@jdv95
Things this s the same news. VB just speculate it will be DA4 not even sure of the 'name'. I e. 4
still hoping for a HD collection of the other games before we get a DA4
@ShogunRok I don't remember you having any interviews or columns throughout the year, am I right? Don't take my comments as something evik, it's just that I visit this site every day several times so I want it to be better, nothing else. Thanks for your detailed response and I wish you all the best!
@NecuVise Nah we always appreciate the feedback, it's all good. And I do apologise if I come across as prickly — it's hard not to get defensive when you disagree with people and you're defending your own work.
Again, we'd love to do more interviews and more... In-depth features more often, it's always just a case of time and resources, and like I say, having to keep up to date with everything that's going on. Definitely something to consider, though.
@ShogunRok no hard feelings on my side, I hope you don't mind me attacking/criticizing your work (as a team and individually).
@NecuVise All feedback is welcome!
I don’t ever want to know about games three years in advance.
yes I l💗ve dragon age.all of the dragon age games are amazing .word up son
@Cheski what are you talking about.dragon age 4 will be a single player game.word up son
@NecuVise how is it rumors.the people that make dragon age said they are working on dragon age 4.check first before typing.its not a rumor.they said yes it's in development.word up son
@playstation1995 the very first word in the headline says rumor, but it's all okay mate. Cheers.
@NecuVise
I like that it says DA 'maybe' shown
It's a rumour of maybe... As in the new source says 'maybe'
I hope I don't come up as disrespectful either. I just want the site to be better.
Clickbaity? Nope, there's nothing being misinterpreted or blown out of proportion in the title, in fact the title tells you everything, you don't even have to read the article or waste everyone's time complaining about nothing.
BioWare will be lucky if they're still around in 3 years.
@Boxmonkey but Bethesda wants you to know about games five years in advance. Or square Enix 10 years. Or Sony, or Microsoft. Haha I agree with you but that's how it is in this industry.
Seems like a good opportunity to announce their new mobile game. 😉
Probably not a lot of point showing it then
No thanks. After mentioning that it will have live elements in it, I'll pass. And this announcement seems like a desperate reassurance to fans before Anthem comes out.
Love the Dragon Age series, but there's no way I'm letting myself get excited for a fourth installment this early! I'm a bit of a pessimist, so I'm not at all confident that BioWare will even be around for long after Anthem releases, because no matter how well that game sells, it is still sure to disappoint EA's shareholders and we all know the reputation EA has for shuttering previously great studios! Also, even if BioWare does survive, it's not the beloved BioWare of old, and Dragon Age 4 is bound to be chock full of predatory MTX. Would be happier with a Dragon Age Origins remaster announcement tbh.
is DA being shown so early because people aren't going to like the direction Anthem is going to take a bit like Bethesda showing the years away ES6 and Starfield because they knew Fo76 was going to get flak for numerous reasons.
The thing I always liked the most about the DA games was the writing. I don't think the series will be as good without lead writer, David Gaider, who left BioWare a couple of years ago.
