In a recent interview with Japanese gaming publication Famitsu, Square Enix confirmed that Dragon Quest Builders 2, the upcoming open world sequel, will support cross-play... To some extent. Across PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, players will be able to share in-game photos with each other by posting them on a bulletin board. What's more, you can tour the worlds of other players regardless of platform, but this is for exploration purposes only -- there's no direct way to interact.
This kind of stuff certainly isn't a huge deal, but it's a nice touch all the same. Square Enix obviously wants the Dragon Quest Builders community to feel united even if players are separated by platform, and we reckon that in true Dragon Quest fashion, this is a pleasant way to do it.
The game itself is due out next month in Japan, while a Western release is pencilled in for 2019.

WAIT! we are getting a Dragon Quest Builders 2!!!
HOW DID I MISS THAT NEWS?
@FullbringIchigo You must have slept through that one
@Areus probably i do work nights
You really think this day and age we really should have a simultaneous release of a couple of months at most, more so with a game like this that won't have any voice acting (or much)
That's a nice crossplay'ish feature tho'.
