Although we didn't actually get to see the game in any capacity during EA's conference, it's now confirmed that the publisher's next big Star Wars title will be called Jedi: Fallen Order. And yes, as if the name didn't give it away, you'll be playing as a Jedi, which means lightsabers and all that.
Fallen Order is actually Respawn Entertainment's Star Wars third-person action title, which was announced way back in 2016. It's going to take place during the property's dark age, a time when the Jedi are being hunted down. It's got a vague release window of "holiday" 2019.
Is this a new hope? Please don't use the force in the comments section below.

If Liam Neeson lends his CGI face to this game I'll buy just for Qui-Gon. An underrated character in an otherwise diabolical movie.
A short, simple trailer with Star Wars music and a name reveal. Maybe some scrolling text about the time period. Nah, let's have the studio head sit in the crowd and say the name and do it in way that makes you wonder if he's not 100% sure he said it right.
The announcement was really weak, but it's cool that Respawn is making this game, Titanfall 2 has a great single-player campaign.
Only now that EA will release a proper Star Wars single-player game, what a joke.
How bout we just release Star Wars 1313. Ok, ok. That's the next Star Wars game I will play.
@PS_Nation Just a heads up a majority of Respawn Entertainment left and went back to Infinity Ward, so its not the same Respawn anymore.
@Tasuki Sigh, seriously? I didn't know that.
I think this was A late addition to EA’s conference in an attempt to get at least one nonsarcastic clap from the audience
I'm really pissed at EA for all the Star Wars games they announce. It's just names and "Oh we're working on a new Star Wars game". It's like they know how big of a fan base it has, and they're just trying to anger us! Not even a short teaser? I think I'll go back to watching The Last Jedi, at least it shows something!
I’m definitely interested.
@PS_Nation Yeah appearently when they were moved to the Starwars project alot of them didn't like.the idea so they went back to Infinity Ward, which spurred the Modern Warfare 4 rumors.
Holiday 2021
Sounds very exciting. But will it get canceled and have it's resources focused on a new multiplayer experience game like their last non-Battlefront Star Wars project?
@Tasuki I was interested until I was reminded of this fact.
Will still wait for the reviews though, maybe it'll be good somehow.
I'm (obviously) interested and excited about the idea of this project. Apparently, you play as a Padawan in the immediate aftermath of Episode III, somehow escaping Order 66. Just that idea alone sparks a dozen incredible possibilities for some kind of desperate intergalactic survival game, and the fact that you're still a learner (presumably with nobody left to complete your training) means you won't be some overpowered superweapon like in The Force Unleashed.
But it's EA and it's a single player, story-driven game. So I'm bracing for it to be really short, miss or skip over most great opportunities afforded by the concept, and have a tacked-on multiplayer mode laden with microtransactions. Because history.
@Tasuki It's only 8 people wasn't it?
@RogerRoger i dunno maybe they learned their lesson with Star Wars games after Disney dropped on them like a tonne of bricks after Battlefront 2
still the premise does sound interesting but with nothing shown, not eve concept art it's hard to get excited right now
As long as DICE isn’t doing it, I’m interested.
