Don’t expect anything new on Death Stranding at E3 2017 next week is the message from director Hideo Kojima on Twitter. While the auteur will be at the show and participating in an interview with Geoff Keighley on 14th June, the ex-Metal Gear man has warned that he won’t be bringing his new title to Los Angeles as his team is “fully focused on development”.
While this will please many who feel the foray’s already gotten too much exposure, we’re not 100 per cent sure we buy what the veteran’s saying here. Obviously there’ll be no gameplay, but Kojima does love to cut a good trailer, and perhaps he’s just hoping to dampen expectations so that he can surprise during next week’s press conference.
Of course, in order to avoid disappointment it’s probably best to expect nothing now… But we still reckon there’s a chance the title may show up in some capacity.

Cancel E3!
Please be true.
Death Stranding may not be at E3 but I'm almost willing to bet he still makes an appearance at Sony's briefing...
At the end of the day, the mystery surrounding the game, and his name of course, are fuelling interest. Revealing exactly what the game may be about, may offer in terms of actual game-play etc could have a 'negative' reaction...
No, because its not a game?
I think they have enough on their plate that they should let him skip it, and actually work on something. The quicker he gets through the revisions, the quicker we'll see something resembling a game.
Sony has enough going on right now, I think it is best to keep this under wraps until they have more to show.
Yup, you just broke my heart
No problem, I'll wait.
@Cheski yes!!! totally agree. We have seen enough weird trailers already, unless you going to show me some gameplay then i really don't care for another weird trailer
honestly i'm not too fussed, i found his last few games VERY disappointing so while i'm intrigued by this one i'm also not bothered
sounds strange but i don't know how else to put it
If he is fully focused on development then I would expect that he wouldn't have time to cut a trailer.
Good
Shame if there isn't a new trailer, I'm not bothered by seeing gameplay (too soon for that anyway) Kojima usually delivers, he just hasn't got Konami interfering now thank god.
It'll be at The Game Awards instead!
I gotta say hearing this made me sad...and maybe a little disappointed, I expected Death Stranding to show us at least a glimpse of its Gameplay, now...I just hope Bloodborne II is true...DAMMIT!
I hope that Meredith Molinari will be at E3 though.
I don't even know what type of game this is going to be so I'm not fussed. Kojima san's last great game was MGS3, in my opinion.
MGS 5 - critically acclaimed masterpiece
PT - Scariest Demo ever
MGS Peace Walker - critically acclaimed Masterpiece
MGS 4 - critically acclaimed masterpiece
MGS 3 - critically acclaimed masterpiece
MGS 2 - critically acclaimed masterpiece
Zone of the enders 2 - critically acclaimed masterpiece
MGS - critically acclaimed masterpiece
Policenauts - critically acclaimed masterpiece
Yeah the next games gonna be good.
Until he can tell us what GENRE of game it is ... it's all vapourware.
Ahahahahaha. Naaaah. It's gonna be there. The denial is just to create artificially a sensation of surprise for the trailer that will open the conference. Gameplay, everything. Demo on the store instantanely. And a date : september 2017. Crowd goes nutz again. Kojima appears on stage "did U rike it ?" Master Troll-San, I don't believe you anymore.
And MGS V is a real masterpiece, in my opinion, by the way. I totally disagree with all the people arguing that it's not really finished and that Konami made him rush blablabla... I finished every mission, listened to every tape, and of course saw the real ending. Genius again. Thank you, Mister Kojima.
It just would have been a trailer where no one knew WTF was going on anyways.
Hmmm, even though Kojima's behind this, I have zero hype for this game. Was hoping E3 was gonna change that but maybe not!
