Realistically, there was only ever going to be one game to take the top spot of the latest Japanese software charts: Dragon Quest Heroes II. The super slimy sequel smashed into first place on PlayStation 4, selling through a very respectable 184,820 copies. It was followed by the Vita version in second, and the PlayStation 3 version in third. Square Enix will no doubt be chuffed with those figures, but it's worth pointing out that the first game actually did quite a bit better during its first week on the market when it launched in March 2015. A slightly worrying sign, perhaps.
Elsewhere, Overwatch blasted its way into fourth place, shifting a decent 58,363 copies on Sony's current-gen console, while enhanced brawler Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator rounded out the top five, selling through a rather meagre 17,829 copies. As for the hardware charts, the PS4 remained king for another week, its sales jumping to 24,813 units.

I'm curious to see how many copies the next true numbered release (XI) will shift on its first week. It's tough to gauge the true state of the series with spin-offs. However, even though DQ always secures a first spot in any shape or form, it does seem that these numbers pale in front of previous releases. DQ XI can either dispel these worries, or confirm them.
Wow, it actually had a sharp decline compared to the first heroes... maybe this came out to soon.
My goodness 61 X1 units! Is that a record low?
@Dodoo I think that 25 is the lowest, but I don't remember if this number is from X1 or X360.
Squenix had the top 4 spots with only 2 games. Low sales or not thats something to brag about I think.
@Frank90 Ouch, thanks for the info!
I half respect MS for sticking with it in Japan and half think they're crazy not pulling out!
Poor ps vita sales, considering its software sales this week. Sony dominated the software sales this week.
So much Vita in the charts. Great it's broke the 5million mark in Japan too. Seals support for a while yet:-)
