Red Dead Redemption 2 PS4 PlayStation 4 1

Take Two, the company in charge of 2K Games and Rockstar, has hinted that it will appear at E3 2016 in a "big way". Strauss Zelnick, the organisation's head honcho, teased the tidbit in the latest issue of MCV, stopping short of revealing which titles it will have on display. It currently has three games announced: Battleborn, Mafia III, and Civilization Revolution 2 Plus for the PlayStation Vita. At least two of those should be on shelves prior to June.

So, what could it announce? Well, we already know that there's a new Borderlands in production, but Gearbox is presumably too busy with Battleborn to announce that now. The recently leaked BioShock Collection is probably a good shout, but we're not sure that it would set headlines alight at the biggest gaming convention in the calendar year. Surely, then, it's time to see something new from Rockstar – Red Dead Redemption 2, perhaps?

This author actually predicted earlier in the year that the sequel to Rockstar San Diego's critically acclaimed western would pop up during Sony's E3 2016 press conference, and it's a hunch that we're sticking by. Historically, the Grand Theft Auto maker has pumped out one new title a year, but it's been riding Grand Theft Auto V hard in recent times. It surely must have something to show by now – it's been almost six years since Red Dead Redemption released!
