Nier released in 2010 to mixed reception with its story, characters, and gameplay, but has its passionate fans that revere the title like a cult classic. So, when Square Enix announced at its E3 2015 conference that Platinum Games will be taking the reigns of the series with several significant Japanese game industry veterans behind it, consider our interest piqued.
The trailer shows an overview of a castle and industrial areas overgrown with plant life, and then we receive a closing look at our female protagonist in a beautiful forest. However, that is all that we can glean from the trailer, so we recommend checking it out below since we'll all need to wait to hear more about this interesting development.

Man Platinum Games sure is busy this generation.
Huh, a credits trailer. Get out.
Interesting but personally I would have preferred to see them working on Vanquish 2, Viewtiful Joe or maybe even Okami 2
This could turn out well. I felt there was a lot of potential for Nier, but it was ultimately marred by the poor combat mechanics, and the insane choice that meant you essentially had to replay most of the game several times over to actually get the full story. Still, could be one to keep an eye on.
Nice to know Platinum remembers Playstation at long last.
