Seeing as Microsoft stuck rigidly to its Holiday 2015 qualifier for Rise of the Tomb Raider's exclusivity, we can safely assume that it's coming to the PlayStation 4 next year. As such, we're stretching things a little, we know – but its gameplay demonstration is probably just about worth sharing here.
In the clip, we see protagonist Lara Croft scaling an icy mountain, and engaging in all sorts of set-pieces along the way. It looks good, undoubtedly so – just not Uncharted 4: A Thief's End good. Perhaps the biggest take away, however: what on Earth have they done to the buxom British explorer's face?

Sigh, I don't understand why they keep changing her. I thought the design the original design from the Tomb Raider reboot was great... Not sure why she's gradually been getting more generic.
They gave her a Xbox ONE Downgrade make-over
guess it has to do with current trend of grounded, unisex, gender equality female character design in games.
After seeing the gameplay I don't even get why I was annoyed anymore, it looks bloody awful.
@whywai88 I kinda feel like she was already that in TR 2013, though. They've stripped all of the personality out of her re-design:
This looks like an actual character. She looks like a doll in the trailer.
@get2sammyb hmm.. different people different view maybe... I feel the facial feature in the new trailer more masculine...
@NaughtyOttsel22 It looks like it was a scene from the beginning of the game. I remember the Tomb Raider reboot had a pretty slow and boring beginning (in terms of cinematic gameplay) but then eventually opened up into this huge beautiful world. I still have high hopes for the game. Call me naive!
In all brutal honesty, I think Tomb Raider is just treading ground that Uncharted has already probably done better by this point. Problem is, Uncharted's jumped to the next level, while Lara's still just sticking to the plan.
@zeldagaymer93 Eitherway, 2016 PS4 and PC game for me.
@ShogunRok As a massive Raider fan I have to agree.
The reboot was great, but then ND come back with the masterpiece that was U3!
Been there, done that.
Seems very similar to previous game, which is not necessarily a bad thing,...but was expecting a bit more.
Facial features not really my main concern,...and neither are her other physical attributes by the way.
Like LC because of her unrelenting no-nonsense survival attitude, not her make-up.
This Uncharted 2 remake looks pretty good, sorry I mean the new Tomb Raider. In all seriousness the reboot as nice as it was never really kept me hooked and it still sits there on my PS4 waiting for me to return but I doubt I ever will. Unfortunately they have shot themselves in the foot with this timed exclusive deal with Uncharted being delayed there was a gap for it. Now by the time it does come out I suspect Mr Drake will have just being unleashed to the masses and not many will remember poor old Lara
Lara's had more makeovers than Nathan Drake has dodged bullets! It's be nice if they could just decide on one design and leave it.
Anyway can't wait for this. I reckon it'll be out Jan/Feb next year on PS4 so should help keep me going until Uncharted if it is...
If you ask me, she looks similar to her voice actress, Camilla Luddington. Probably did it so they'd look alike.
I liked the trailer, really looking forward to the eventual PS4 announcement.
@whywai88 This, you can't put an attractive woman in a video game these days without polygon and kotaku calling you sexist. I can't wait for this puritanical moral panic to be over.
I actually liked tombraider a lot more than uncharted. The pacing in uncharted is just all wrong imo. Too much action followed by too many puzzles, there never seems to be a good balance
i have that exact poster of the tomb raider reboot on my wall, her face has changed dramatically in rise of the tomb raider, but why?? i don't agree with it
@get2sammyb they faithfully recreated laura's voice actress' face in this game.she's called emellia luddington. Although i liked the old face better,i understand why they did this.
