We hope that you enjoyed your time with free-to-play Vita title Destiny of Spirits, because Sony's closing its servers down on the 30th June, 2015. "After this date, you will not be able to play or access the game, and all unused Destiny Orbs will expire," the game's official website states.
With only a few months left to live, the title's managed to survive just over a year since it was released back in March 2014. Still, it's a sad time for fans of the relatively quirky strategy-'em-up, but the developer will be implementing a special 'Fan Appreciation Campaign', in which it'll be bringing back raid boss events for a limited time courtesy of a final software update.
Have you ever tried Destiny of Spirits? What do you think of it? Shed a single tear in the comments section below.

It was a fun game! wouldnt mind them release an update to playit offline
I haven't heard of this, though that's mostly because I don't own a Vita.
Still, shutting down after only a year and three months really sucks. Another sad Vita story.
I can't believe they're shutting this down already. Why bother making it? And what the heck's Shuhei going to play on his Vita now?
I actually liked this game, but recently quit due to it constantly requiring internet and being able to shut off at any time.I don't mind free to play games as long as I can play them offline
Never heard of it, thought it was a PS4 title.
I think a year is long enough for a free title to either work or not. Guess this didn't.
That's to bad I don't like the F2P game model but I wouldn't deny others the option.
Didn't even know about this. Pity, I've been playing the Vita a lot lately.
It had my attention for a solid 30min, so it's suffice to say, I won't be missing it.
Very disappointing. I spent nearly a thousand hours with this game (and €40) and that's not that much compared to others. Best 3G Vita game. A million downloads but maybe not enough profit. Still, another example of the lack of support from SCE for the Vita.
@Vorlon
Same here.
For me that's devastating news as I played it for over 2000 hours (2099 to be exact). It became a huge part of my life, so yeah, worst game related news I've heard in my life.
I get that it was not doing well and that they had to shut it down, but it still hurts like hell. Today I woke up and turning on my vita to play DoS was like muscle memory. Sad...
Never has a firmware update inspired such a trail of death.
The game just wasn't smooth enough. You just need to play a mobile game like Puzzles and Dragons to realise how important considering connectivity is.
This news is making me rage! I've been playing this game for a year straight, a little before work, and after work, and I'm only a little over halfway completing the world map (those events kept distracting me ). Ugh... seriously, WTF? I thought this game was banking! It celebrated having a million players not too long ago. I thought everything was all right...
I'm so sick of server shut downs Now I gotta rush to purify the whole map to get 100% on the trophy list, then TRY and forget this game ever happened. Honestly, does this game REALLY cost that much for Sony to run the servers?
