If you haven't been paying attention, Assassin's Creed Unity was a bit of a technical mess at launch, with bugs ranging from annoying to genuinely horrifying. Ubisoft has been hot on the case, though, setting up a blog detailing exactly what it's doing to combat the issues. With the second major patch already under its belt, the developer has now detailed a whole host of fixes it plans to implement in the next update. Here are all the major ones:
Gameplay: this includes bugs like Arno getting stuck on certain areas of the map (including a few more hay carts), problems with getting into/out of cover, character animation bugs, and general camera problems
AI & Crowd: in this category are problems with NPC animations, crowd events, and crowd stations, NPC navigation issues, as well as bugs related to NPCs detecting Arno’s activities in various situations
Matchmaking & Connectivity: this covers a number of issues related to co-op play, including bugs with joining games in-progress and problems that happen during host migration
Menus & HUD: fixes in this category will address missing details in certain menus, problems with some of the mission objective and co-op update pop-ups, localization inconsistencies, as well as some of the issues with menus and pop-ups overlapping each other
General Stability: this includes fixes for a number of crash situations we've identified in both campaign and co-op modes.
Phew, that's a lot of fixes, but you can find the full list through here. While the title's launch day problems were entirely unacceptable, Ubisoft at least deserves credit for taking them seriously. With that said, it would obviously have been nice if we'd never been exposed to the game's glitchy nightmare-fuel in the first place.

Well, maybe I'm in the minority but I'm not giving Ubiscum credit for anything. They dumbed down the PS4 version to match the lowest common denominator and still put out a broken piece of sh*t on each format and they get credit for patching it? Please. How about developers finish their damn games before releasing them? But no, they don't have to because people still run out and reward them with ridiculously good launch day sales and then kiss their a$$es when they patch a game that wouldn't need to be patched if these lazy a-holes did their job in the first place.
Not one yet. But I'm playing in offline mode. No frame rate issues either, and there are lots of little cool things to like about this assassins creed. They messed up with the issues, but underneath i think there's a very awesome game that has definitely pushed the series forward.
@Gamer83 Oh, absolutely. The bugs are unacceptable whichever way you slice it. I just meant that Ubisoft is at least clearly taking very serious steps to get rid of the issues - and is being very transparent with what its doing.
It's sad that we should be praising a developer for doing that (because frankly, that's the very least it ought to be doing), but I guess that's what it has come to.
Not had any issues apart from a few framerate drops when there is literally hundreds of NPC's on screen at the same time. And even then it is hardly anything noticeable. Shame some people have had issues and others won't play the game because they are listening totally to the media. Whilst I respect the media's opinion, none of the reported issues were game breakers for me so I decided to make my own mind up. I am so glad I did! Great game. At least the developers are resolving the issues and quickly. A few other studios could learn from this. Looking at you Evolution!
Hopefully this will be in a much better state by the time I boot it up after Far Cry 4!
It's shocking how Ubi released it in such a poor state but also good to see them patching it quickly...
What I think has happened here is that during development they ran out of time for submission (because this can take a while to go through). So instead of delaying it, they presented the game as was and started to work on bugs for the day 1 patch. They are not the only ones who do this. GTA V has a day one patch. Common practice.
Any word on when this patch is coming?
My complaint isn't a Bug. It's the HUD overlays are MASSIVE! I'm using a 50 inch screen and they cover most of it. Shutting them off isn't a great option I need to see my Health bar and the mini map most of the time. An option to change HUD size would be nice.
Slight stutter once earlier. Otherwise fine. I am thoroughly enjoying the game.
I have had the fall through the floor issue and slowdown when climbing but that hasn't spoiled my enjoyment of the game and they should be fixed.
What is vexing me is the amount of time I have to spend staring at a black screen due to the crippling loading times. I thought the next generation was going to end this. Shadow Of Mordor didn't seem to have this problem or, at least, they hid it better.
Its good their communicating this issues with the community openly but perhaps they could have had these issues fixed prior to launch.
By the time my copy arrives from amazon all the bugs will be ironed out! Amazon free shipping speed wins again.
No, they don't deserve credit for this. For what, being one of the biggest gaming companies in the world, releasing one of the biggest games in the world as a broken mess. No, sorry, no. I LOVE AC & I actually think that the game itself is pretty amazing, one of the best of the entire series. But it should of been delayed. No excuses for the mess they released. Before the second patch it was unplayable for me & to have to download almost 2GB of patches to make a game almost passable is ridiculous.
@Mrskinner Major games media has mainly ignored it. As a AC fan I'm incensed, it was so, so broke for so long, almost a week. I bought the Bastille edition too so not happy.
Developers will sell you half a video game today and glady give you the other half another day!
