If you need proof that PlayStation 4 launch title Killzone: Shadow Fall is an underrated gem, just look at its post-release support. It seems like we're reporting on some new free downloadable extra every other week. Indeed, it was only a few days ago that we learnt developer Guerrilla Games will be handing out a slew of free gifts to celebrate the franchise's 10th anniversary.
The latest update, which was discussed on a recent 10th Anniversary livestream, will introduce a totally new system known as 'valour', which will allegedly add a "whole new dimension to the game". Essentially, every time that you take an action that would have given you experience points, you'll instead be awarded with valour. This resource can be spent on 'mystery boxes', which contain content you would have otherwise unlocked through different methods.
What's more, the update will add daily challenges and daily login bonuses, both of which will earn you valour. Ultimately, the goal of the patch is to let you see more content, without having to grind quite so much. Ten points to anyone who can think of another sci-fi shooter which could do with a similar update.
Unfortunately, no release date was forthcoming, but the Netherlands-based studio said that we can look forward to trying out the new system very soon. Are you excited for Killzone: Shadow Fall's new update, or did you trade the title in many moons ago? Deploy your OWL in the comments section below.

Sounds like a pretty cool idea. I'm actually eager to get back into this game's multiplayer mode - I thought it was ace.
Still got my copy on the shelf, and its been there since I bought a Ps4. If there was no release of PvZ on Ps4, then Shadowfall would still be my go-to multiplayer game on the console. Good to hear of something new being added to freshen things up a little as new maps can only do so much
Still have my copy of KZSF and the 10th anniversary DLC is amazing.
Still lovin' the game, ready to love it some more!
I've been meaning to go back and play it some more...so maybe I will soon.
Bought it. Completed campaign. Had fun but wasnt really impressed, so I sold it afterwards
How about some more Killzone Mercenary support? I would definitely buy new guns and maps if they were made available as DLC.
@ObviouslySheik I always forget about Killzone: Mercenary, which is a shame. To this day, it's one of the best games I've played on Vita.
Even the new online audio chatter freshened up the game. Add mire weapons Guerrilla.
Everything else is A Ok.
@k_andersen I agree. And I've played it so much it's not much fun anymore unless I can actually get the online private match to work so I can play with my little brother... It rarely works.
Downloading Radec Academy map now and gona jump on for a MP session!
This actually sounds like it could be a big improvement. I think more multiplayer games should have a system like this because it keeps you coming back to see what you'll unlock next.
KZ Mercenary's valor system worked really well, you could just buy the weapons and equipment you wanted instead of grinding for them. This also sounds like a big improvement to SF.
This game is so boring it's not even funny. Yes it looks nice but underneath it all is a shooter that feels very dumb.
@SuperSilverback its awesome
@ShogunRok cough... destiny... cough. random rewards. Is only nice if they implement it well enough, hopefully they didn't take a page from bungie here.
@wittypixel It sounds more like the system that Mass Effect 3's co-op used. But yeah, I'd argue that Destiny would be a heck of a lot better off if it allowed you to buy random packs of gear with glimmer...
I still have my copy that i bought on launch day. I love it, although I don't play it nearly as much as i should, the new dlc sounds great.
I honestly find it hard to see why it was so under rated.
