Project Puppet PS4

Update: You can't knock a coconut down everytime, and it seems like we've been duped. This is not Japan Studio's next project, but rather a short movie posted to Vimeo a few years ago. In other words, it's faker than Simon Cowell's front teeth. Hype deflated.

Original story: Japan Studio had a rough few years during the PlayStation 3 era, but under the leadership of ex-Santa Monica honcho Allen Becker, it is finally finding relevance again. Yes, it may have developed the disappointing Knack, but it also produced Puppeteer, while helping out on Soul Sacrifice and Freedom Wars as well. At the moment, it’s collaborating with From Software on Bloodborne – but there has been speculation that it’s working on a big Japanese-centric project behind closed doors.

And this may well be your first look at it. Hot on the heels of today’s press conference announcement, a short 18 second video clip has hit the web showing off a new Japan Studio title. It’s been leaked by the same person responsible for outing Project Beast earlier in the year, so is likely to be authentic. The game appears to be named Project Puppet right now, and shows a Kara-esque cyborg being assembled. Later, the doll is shown standing in shallow water under a blossom tree.

Further details are unsurprisingly nonexistent at this stage, but we’re sure that we'll learn more at the Tokyo Game Show next month. In the meantime, check out the video through here and let us know what you think.
