We were busy typing away about the rather surprising reveal of Saints Row: Gat out of Hell, when suddenly, developer Volition decided to throw a slightly less shocking announcement our way.
That's right, the PlayStation 4 is getting another last-gen port, and this time, it's the wacky Saints Row IV, which now comes with the subtitle 'Re-elected'. The Saints' last outing was already a rather meaty adventure, but the next-gen edition will come with all of the previously released DLC packs, and will even use your save data to alter the aforementioned Gat out of Hell expansion. Like the newly announced download, Saints Row IV: Re-elected will be launching on the 27th January.
We suppose that Saints Row IV is a decent candidate for a PS4 port, as the title had a habit of running quite badly on Sony's older machine, but is this more of what you wanted to hear, or are you sharpening your port-puncturing pitchfork as we write this? Be the Boss in the comments section below.

Re releases don't bother me one bit. People seriously whine way too much. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
For me, the more games the merrier.
I thought Saints Row 3 was better to be honest I would rather have had a remaster of that
Pointless, nobody will buy this. Cheap ass money spinning bandwagon. TLOU and Metro I understand, they weren't on both systems, Tomb Raider had a decent upgrade apparently. SR port is just lazy, who is asking for this?
yea, I liked Saints Row the third, that was an awesome game I thought. I didn't get Saints Row IV, but from what I read from user reviews, I'm glad I skipped it.
I'm kind of indifferent to playing Saints Row IV on PS4. I really enjoyed it on PS3 (don't worry, I won't plug the review) and it'd be a better experience on Sony's new console due to much better performance.
But at the same time, I feel like a few things would have to be tweaked for me to see the whole thing through again. It's a weird one, at least for me.
Will the graphics still be so dark they make your eyes scream in agony from trying to see what's happening? I loved Saints Row 3 but SR4 quickly burned up any good will it's predecessor had built up in me. I'll check back in with the franchise when they get around to bringing out Saints Row 5.
@FullbringIchigo I agree....it would polish up as well as SR4 if not better.
i loved Saints Row IV so this is a must buy for me, can't wait.
I was hoping for a new game like most people I reckon
I haven't played it on PS3, and always intended to pick it up at one point. The problem is, I'm not going to pay full price for this version when I can get it on PS3 for £7.99.
@get2sammyb I believe it'll come at a discounted price at least.
GTA V, Metro, Tomb Raider and TLOU I understand but this isn't really needed.
I would've preferred a bundle pack of Saints Row 3+4 or a new entry.
@Not-Another-Ad I do agree that a bundle of 3 and 4 would probably have went down better with most people.
Some of the remasters I appreciate, like The Last of Us, Tomb Raider (helped the post launch drought) and even Metro Redux. But when you look at how many games have actually been ported or are being ported, the number is staggering.
I hate it when people pretend like this doesn't hurt anyone, because it most certainly does. One or two remasters, sure that's probably not going to put a dent in the potential release lineup. But when you're talking about dozens of remasters, then yes, that's a pretty substantial chunk of the potential line up devoted to games that have already released during the seventh generation. Of course I won't buy it, along with two dozen other ports I'm skipping, but I'm also going to complain because I'm sick of seeing the same games released over and over and over again. Literally, the exact same games. Not metaphorically.
If they remaster every single Saints Row, put it in a bundle and smack a $60 price tag on it...you won't hear me complaining. That would be value for money and can introduce some younger gamers to SR. But why on earth do we need remakes/ remastered of games that are just 1 or 2 years old? What's up with this nonsense? I liked SR for what is was up until part 3, but I sincerely hope no one will buy this, unless it's a $20 downloadable game.
Please invest your money and time in making new games, new IPs preferably in Volition's case, and stop wasting ours with these silly money grabs. A collection like Xbox is getting with Halo, or an Uncharted or God of War collection offers good value ánd these are games that define the consoles on which you can play them on... But Saints Row?! Really?
Stupid me, I got my hopes up that they would be announcing Saints Row V or some kind of 'reboot' like had been rumored. Nope, instead more ports.... I actually liked Saints Row IV but I'm not buying it again, maybe I'll check out the Gat out of Hell DLC when it's on a sale for a more reasonable price.
Im happy to get remastered games on PS4 but Saints Row 4 was a real let down. Saints Row the 3rd was loads better and im not alone in thinking this. All my friends who play the Saints Row games didn't like the 4th iteration and agree the 3rd was loads better.
Its going to release between some really big games and probably won't sell very well because of that. Me and my friends won't be picking this up.
Wasn't this free on PlayStation Plus in the US for PS3?
Ready to go again? More like getting ready to trade them in towards SSB3DS comes october the 3rd.
@WARDIE
The second one was the best in the series. Volition needs to get back to that.
It's worth mentioning that Volition won't be handling this port — it's being done by an outside source.
@Gamer83 True dat!
im not a fan of saints row, ive played them all, sr4 was a lot of fun but not worth a replay, got it free on ps+ so not complaining but
some of the remakes are worth it but don't think saints row is one of them.
its starting to get better though, for a while it felt like indy station lol
metro redux is one thats worth a remake as only last light was on ps3, in my opinion one of the best first person shooters aside from deus ex.
I'm a huge fan of Saint's Row (obviously, look at my profile image), but I will say I prefer 3 to 4, 3 is always my go-to game when I just want to run around blowing stuff up. Not that 4 was bad, it just didn't have the lasting appeal 3 does over time. I'd much prefer a port of the whole series in a bundle (especially as the first game was xbox only) than just one game, but I'll likely get this regardless
This is great news, cant wait to play SR4 on the PS4, even though I still need to beat SR2 and play both SR3 and SR4 on PS3.
