Well, we didn't see that one coming. As you've no doubt heard, publisher Deep Silver released a Saints Row teaser image over Twitter earlier today, and with developer Volition hosting a panel at this year's PAX convention this evening, it seemed all but assured that the crazy sandbox franchise would be making an appearance on our shiny new consoles.
And technically, it is, although we daresay that many of you will be disappointed by the announcement. As it turns out, the comically named Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell is a standalone expansion pack that's part of Saints Row IV, and it's releasing at the end of January 2015.
Set in Hell — which is apparently about half the size of Steelport from the previous two games — you'll be playing as fan favourite Johnny Gat, as you unleash, er, hell on a host of demonic adversaries in order to save the Boss. It sounds like your typical Saints Row madness, then, and it'll be available on both the PS3 and the PS4. Are you happy with the reveal, or were you hoping for a whole new next-gen sequel? Headbang to the embedded trailer in the comments section below.

I never understood the Gat love? He is probably my least favorite of the group. I do love me some Kinzie though.
Well...that's a shame, I was hoping for a sequel! Meh...
Hell no.....it was a struggle to finish Saints Row IV and Johnny Gat is a d*ck...I'm out.

My thoughts exactly. I'm not totally against standalone expansions but I got my hopes up for something else now I'm disappointed. Maybe they surprise me and it's as well done as inFamous: First Light, but still, $20 is steep, I'd go $15 at most if it turns out great but even that's really pushing it.
I have better things to spend my money on... Like bog roll.
I'm already done with this franchise
this is... odd? Even as a Saints fan I'll need to see more before I'm sold
Seems just stupid enough to work I guess
So I can finally play as Johny Gate
