Parisian developer Quantic Dream may have skipped Sony’s press conference yesterday, but fortunately for fans, its style of story-driven games will live on in PlayStation 4 exclusive Until Dawn. Originally announced for the PlayStation 3, but now completely rebuilt for the Japanese giant’s next-gen machine, this title follows eight friends who take a vacation in a remote mountain location.
Naturally, as with all good slasher films, they start getting picked off one-by-one – but it’s your actions that will dictate how the story flows. Just like in Heavy Rain or The Walking Dead, you’ll need to make decisions that could ultimately change the fate of your fraternity. An example of these moments can be glimpsed in the gameplay video below.
While the character models do look great, the animations could definitely use some work, as they look a bit stilted next to titles such as The Last of Us Remastered and inFAMOUS: Second Son. Nevertheless, it’s great to see more horror titles on the PS4, as we felt that the genre was severely underrepresented last generation.

There was me thinking Heavy Rain was horror anyway. I still have nightmares about it. JAYYY SON. JASON? JAYYY SUUUUNNNN?
Strange accents and stranger dialogue..... Yep. Heavy rain was terrifying.
I need Quantic Dream to announce something for Ps4...Like NOW
I guess this Until Dawn will have to do for now. There seems to be a few of these 'QD' style games to have been announced lately. Maybe its a new genre forming....
Ah yes... a cliche ridden QTE fest.. a last generation game rehashed for the next generation before it's even released on the last generation.
@voodoo341 Do you ever not complain?
@get2sammyb really... it's a game that's completely rebuilt but still has to use quick time events to cover the Move elements of the game. A fact entirely missed in the article. It's a straight PS3 port.
@MadchesterManc Beyond Two Souls is coming to PS4. Happy?
I decided to sit in my chair with a beer and do nothing
I hated Heavy Rain, one of the most boring games on earth, ever.
That said, I like that film noir setting, and the horror elements might make it Alan Wake style.
And Alan Wake was superb.
loved HR so am cautiously optimistic about this
@get2sammyb What do you expect? he's a troll and a pessimist of course he never stops complaining
I had hoped this would be a launch game for Morpheus oh well
Dont really like the models
Strangely, gameplay demo of Life is Strange is far more better in my opinion, spot it on ign when i open ps4
@artemisthemp It's only rumoured so far, as far as I know it hasn't been confirmed by anyone. So no, I'm not happy lol It would be nice of QD to confirm something seen as I recall them being at last year's E3 showing off some new tech they have for the Ps4, yet nothing has come yet. Tis a shame.
This looks horrible.
I'm soooo gona piss my pants, but defenetly getting this game.
The character movements as mentioned cod do with a tidy up. Still seem very rigid.
As for voodoo, not happy unless complaining
I think this looks really interesting!! I'll definitely keep my eye on this.
@voodoo341 ooops sorry, I thought you were talking about Ryse for a moment.
I loved heavy rain and I will love this
