We dared to dream that Microsoft’s co-marketing partnership with the Call of Duty franchise may have concluded, but that hasn’t turned out to be the case. As already indicated by today’s leaked trailer, the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of the upcoming Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will receive any future map packs and content care packages a month before the PlayStation 4.
This won’t be a deal breaker for long-time Sony veterans, as the Redmond-based manufacturer has aligned its brand with the series several years in a row now. However, with franchise fans defecting to the Japanese giant’s more powerful box, we had hoped that the tides might turn. Alas, that won’t occur with this year’s entry, which is being developed for next-gen formats first by Sledgehammer Games.
If you haven’t seen the shooter’s first trailer yet, you’ll almost certainly want to check that out through here. Set in the future, the release will focus on privately owned armies, as opposed to national ones. Are you agitated by this news about the adventure’s add-ons, or are you comfortable sacrificing early access to play on the PS4? Sound off in the comments section below.

Whatever
Genuinely don't care about this. Tbh I'm pretty much done with this series, have been for years in fact, and won't return until they truly revolutionise, which is unlikely.
In any case, all the CoDs I've played so far, I've never once paid for a map pack (I used to play CS, the concept is alien to me), but even if I did care, what flipping difference does 1 month make? How is that a good investment for MS? Are CoD gamers really the "I wannit naooow!!" type people?
@seeafish a large percentage of them are exactly that type of people.
Cods been gettin progressively worse. Not even installed the ps4 version since I upgraded from the 360 ver. Not gonna bother with it this year.
Getting DLC early for any game isn't a carrot worth dangling in front if me...I don't care. I've never liked CoD, never been interested in having children screaming obscenities at me...I work in a primary school and I know just how many of the little cherubs are populating the game.
I have patience and I can wait for things I want...early access to content won't faze me. Even if an atrocity like Fallout 4 and Kingdom Hearts 3 being XBone exclusives occurred I'd still just shed a tear of sadness and move on.
Im kinda relieved Sony is going to spend more time showing something else than this at E3
@N711 Like Destiny...
Activision knows what it's doing!
Not surprising. I would imagine MS wouldn't want to lose that timed-exclusive DLC or brand recognition with CoD but last I knew Ghosts sold better on PS4 than X1. Will be interesting to see if this changes that and what kind of impact this game will have in general. During the PS2 era, GTA was the big thing, last gen CoD burst onto the scene. I'd imagine it will be big again but I do wonder if this being a new gen, a new game like Destiny could steal some thunder. Either way, setting up to be a nice holiday season for Activision.
Oh no, I'll have to wait a month for the S.W.A.T. Pigeon DLC? Sorry, couldn't resist. :^)
I'm actually curious if these minor 1-3 month exclusives make a real difference, or if MS is just using them for marketing purposes. Personally I was done after MW3, so...
No I will not have to wait for the DLC. Because I simply won't buy it. Didn't they say this cod was next gen only. Ill pass
@Kapado 'Next-gen first' is the phrase they've been using.
A whole month? Funny.
@Gamer83 Good point about the Ghost sales. When GTA V came out it sold better on 360 in U.S. and UK despite it been heavily pushed on PS3 cos of the install bases. I think these kind of deals are better served with new IPs, especially early in a console's life. Which might explain why PS4 is marketed with Watch Dogs, Destiny etc.
Well, Sony fans, like myself, can't really throw stones. Destiny and Watch Dogs seem to be hyped up more on the PS4 than any other console, so it's kind of a double standard if we get angry at Microsoft for something that Sony has been doing for the whole generation so far. Not throwing stones, just pointing out facts. At any rate, one month isn't anything to cry over in my opinion. As for this game, it's the first Call of Duty to catch my attention ever (I bought a couple others simply to play CoD). I'm going to keep a watch on this at E3
@adf86 initially, yes, but VG Charts just last week did the top 10 selling games of 2013 chart. Number 1, GTA V on PS3, number 2, GTA V on 360.
Check it here http://www.vgchartz.com/article/251597/top-10-selling-games-worldwide-in-2013/
Not sure how valid those numbers are, but it was selling a lot on PS3, particularly after DF reported better performance.
I'm starting to wonder how much MS paid for this. I'm quite sure it's in the double digit millions and if so, yikes. At the same time though, it really doesn't look like MS actually has a choice on this matter. LOL
Couldn't care less about call of duty dlc. If the game suffers from bad performance at launch I'd much rather they fix it before they want to start charging me for extra content.
@get2sammyb They are pissing on us and calling it next gen rain. I'll have to settle for another buggy Battlefield this year
This "next-gen first" malarkey is just more marketing bogus. The game has been designed to be able to run on last gen consoles and thats the Full Stop. Yes character models, physics, effects will all be ramped up on new gen consoles but higher level elements (you know, the actual important next-gen stuff) such as level design, game mechanics etc all were designed with last-gen consoles in mind. Im not knocking this game or taking anything away from the developers im just saying we shouldn't be fooled by the marketing.
Go ahead and give the Xbox fans something to feel good about. It's been nothing but good news for PS4 and nothing but mediocrity for ONE, I almost feel bad for them.
(Sigh)………
Lots of developers are announcing dlc for games that aren't even out yet! It would be nice if it were free though, as in "here is the unfinished game so you can play it before complete, we'll then send you an update". I guess the only good thing is that it's still a choice, but people will be paying 60 dollars for something that isn't really complete....
Haha I think it's time you guys find a better name for Sony than "the Japanese giant" since they just keep downsizing.. and downsizing... aaaand downsizing lol. didn't they just report their losses for this year are going to be more than last year? over a billion dollars? ouch. maybe call them the Japanese great console maker -but- not so great at anything else? just a suggestion lol
It used to be something I loved about the 360 but now I am not really fussed I didn't buy ghosts anyway so I won't be in a rush to buy this or the map packs I will have to see a lot more to get interested in call of duty again
Don't bother me! Let Microsoft have this! X1 fans are MOANING saying Destiny is being favoured to sony and this game will be much bigger and better something new and fresh rather than another COD with some changes 😋
@mitcHELLspawn They aren't downsizing much, if at all, so "Japanese Giant" is still accurate.
As for their billion dollar loss, that won't be much of an issue since Sony Pictures and Sony Computer Entertainment are doing so well - even their smartphone/tablet division is making money, which just further invalidates your "not so great at anything else" claim.
support Sony all the way MS are to big and greedy look what the umbrella corporation did! just putting a bit of humour in lol
Its funny seeing so many people posting in this topic about how they don't care because they don't play cod anymore or don't like it. If that's the case why read the article.its the biggest selling franchise and most played. As far as MS having the early release for this edition its aggravating to say the least. I don't blame MS there doing what they should be doing for their customers. I'm sure Sony tried to change this but I'm upset with Activision we are all thier customers and thier treating us like crap.
@BornOfEvil um. what? lol those are all part of Sony. it doesn't matter if certain branches of a company are doing well if the company as a whole is losing so much money. And as for downsizing.. they removed the vaio division and looks like their tv division is next, they just sold all their stock in square Enix.. I think it's safe to say that's called downsizing. I'm sorry I feel like I offended your brother or something hahha truth hurts I guess. It doesn't make the ps4 any less awesome.
I was hoping at the start of the sentence, that it would end with FOREVER.
"Youll have to wait for CoD forever".
I dream of a world where people populate good games.
One day my friends, one day.
So thats one theory shot down.
Who cares ? At least PS4 has Watch Dogs and Destiny as the lead platform, maybe higher framerate, Destiny beta first, and exclusive content for both. So idc about waiting a month for DLC, its not like I'm gonna buy the dlc anyways. Even tho this will sell and run better on PS4, Activision is still taking MS money to advertise the inferior version of the game. Buy the time Cod Advanced Warfare release I'll also have an XB1 by then, but I'll still get the PS4 version because it will run at 1080p and have a bigger install base.
Never understood why people thought Sony may get the DLC first. They could be outselling Xbox One by 10:1 and it still wouldn't make a difference. Microsoft would have paid for this gen exclusivity a year or two ago.
@ToOGoodOfAPlaya Whereas I dream of a day when idiots don't criticise people for playing games they don't personally think are good. "One day my friends, one day." You don't like COD? Woohoo. Good for you. I personally don't either (bar Spec Ops with my cousin). A lot of people do though. It's not up to you to be judge, jury and executioner on what games people can like and call good.
@seeafish Alright, interesting. Personally I don't tend to trust VG Chartz's numbers, but yeah I wasn't aware of those numbers...if accurate.
@rastamadeus I'm an idiot for having an opinion huh? Pot and kettle springs to mind.
You criticise my opinion and call me an idiot for stating said opinion.
I never said people shouldn't play it, nor did I claim that they are wrong for not liking it.
It was a statement of personal opinion, one which you may or may not agree too.
It does not change my view of it being poor and over hyped, dominating a market and overshadowing better quality.
Perhaps you should take the time to understand what is written and realise that an opinion from one is no less valid than another.
I'm not saying you have to agree with this statement or the previous, only understand that I do.
'Sorry Activision, You'll Have to Wait for 'another' Gen to get my money again' Like i did PS3 Gen i bought MW1/2&3 off eBay 2nd hand & did not buy any DLC because i had to 'wait' for the CoD DLC. I wish ALL PlayStation Fans did the same as me because that would show Game companies not to treat it's Fans like utter sh*t yearly + The PS4 version is number 1 in the Amazon 'Best Sellers in PC & Video Games' Charts so it don't seem MS ploy is working much
@ToOGoodOfAPlaya You claimed the game (which isn't out and you haven't played) was no good, not expressing an opinion. You said you dreamed of a day when gamers populate good games. That's not an opinion that's a statement. You can like whatever game you want but you can't make out it's not good just because you don't like it personally. Can say you don't like it by all means but you didn't in your comment.
@rastamadeus yes a statement of opinion but I see what youre saying.
I never said it wasn't good directly, that's what you took it to mean.
I'll make my point a bit clearer in future.
To avoid any misunderstanding.
well at least activision have their bases covered Destiny is being marketed to the PS4 and Call of Duty to the XB1
Two words: Big whoop.
