Foul Play

It’s taken a little longer than we expected for Sony to grease the cogs on its PlayStation 4 indie operation, but proceedings seem to be moving at full speed right now. In truth, we’re finding it difficult to keep up with the number of titles being announced for the next-gen platform – and it seems that the studios behind the releases are struggling, too.

While the developer appears to be blissfully unaware that the cat is out of the bag, it seems that former Xbox 360 and PC exclusive beat-‘em-up Foul Play will be picking a fight with the Japanese giant’s latest super machine. Constructed by Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess creator Mediatonic, the title is dubbed as a show-stopping theatrical brawler – and it looks the part to boot.

The game sees you assume the role of Victorian daemon-hunter Baron Dashforth, who you must help beat his way through hordes of “wildly costumed extras as you recount your incredible life story live on stage”. It features two-player co-op, in addition to a slew of intricately detailed sets ranging from “the harsh deserts of Cairo to the shady streets of Victorian London”.

And you’ll be able to play the Puppeteer meets Final Fight escapade with a DualShock 4 at EGX Rezzed next month. The event, hosted by our friends over at Eurogamer.net, is set to showcase all manner of PS4 hits, including – and not limited to – inFAMOUS: Second Son, Octodad: Dadliest Catch, and Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. Of course, someone may want to inform the abovementioned British indie that it’s supposed to be bringing its game.
