We've known for a while that Guerrilla Games, the developer behind the long running Killzone franchise, has been cooking something up for the PlayStation 4 behind-the-scenes, but we've been noticeably short on concrete news. The Amsterdam-based outfit is hot off the heels of the slightly humdrum Killzone: Shadow Fall, so it isn't surprising that it's a bit reticent to share more details.
However, we may be hearing about the title sooner than we initially thought, as a recent promotional video has revealed that this mysterious new series has already been in development for at least two and a half years. "Well, we are working on a new IP, and we started on that already two and a half years ago," producer Angie Smets stated. "But unfortunately we cannot share details yet of the new IP, so you’ll have to be a bit more patient.”
This'll be the studio's first departure from the horrific Helghan battlefield in quite some time, so we're definitely looking on in beady orange eyed glee. What's more, when originally questioned about the new franchise, designer Eric Boltjes made it clear that the studio is aiming to branch out and try something completely separate from its erstwhile shooting escapades. Our best guess is a bright and cheerful side scrolling platformer which contains absolutely no moral ambiguity – but that could just be our ISA fatigue talking.
What impressive new adventure do you hope that Guerrilla Games has been silently working on? Would you be interested in it continuing in the first-person shooter genre, or would you prefer the developer to try its considerably talented hand at something wildly different? Let us know in the comments section below.

Impressive news. I prefer "we've been working on it for over 2 and a half years already" kind of thing over "Oh, well yeah, we probably get started on something, soon. Most likely... reachig for a cigarette with shaky hands" a lot!
This is almost certainly the Fallout-esque RPG they've been working on. I'm so excited to see it - Guerrilla Games has some of the best artists in the business, so this could be really special. I wonder if it'll be announced at E3...?
@get2sammyb I definitely don't want another FPS. There's enough if those out there. Plus I wasn't impressed with Shadow Fall. Great graphics, but just couldnt get into it. Give us something fresh, I'm definitely down for a Fallout-like RPG since we probably won't see fallout for a long time
RPG would be nice. I imagine it will definitely be announced at e3, there aren't many surprises left are there?
Really hoping that whatever this is, it turns out to be good. I would love to see GG move away from Killzone, at least for a bit, if only to see how well they handle a different genre.
From what I've read it sounds like the RPG thay've been working on, also don't be surprised if other dev's start popping up especially with E3 coming up. Looking forwards to hearing more info, The Order 1886 dev's have been working on that game for sometime now.

Agree. I just hope Guerilla Games dont go the route of Crytek. Crytek have great graphics but in my opinion their game have no substance. Its all eye candy.
Great to know they ve been working on it for a while. Also heard about SM new IP reveal soon and also 2 UC4 surprises Im guessing before E3 actually
An rpg is exactly what i am hoping it is not.
A fallout-esque RPG?! Color me intrigued!
I'd like to see a quality 3rd-person shooter, but in a very different environment with space travel/combat in a sandbox game that goes deep, something to rival Mass Effect. There's my 2 cents. And PLEASE be PS4 EXCLUSIVE. You can have my $$ now.
