"What do you mean I sound stupid?"

The Yakuza franchise gets away with its daft dialogue and silly plotlines because SEGA doesn’t even bother hiring voice-actors anymore. (We’re ignoring Eliza Dushku’s turn in the original title for obvious reasons.)

It’s a shame, then, that SEGA hasn’t extended the same faith to Binary Domain – a title developed by the Yakuza team, but with much greater ambitions in the West. We absolutely adore what we’ve played of the game, but these cut-scenes aren’t exactly filling us with confidence. It's not because of the direction, content or the visuals – no, there’s a distinct problem with the voice acting. That is to say: it’s terrible.

We’re holding out hope for a native language option in the game’s menus. It really could make all the difference.
