Paradise has arrived in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4, and it’s brought some new mechanics with it. A strange, chrome-like substance is consuming Fortnite Island, and it’ll allow you to phase through walls and transform into a metallic, blob-like substance. You’ll be able to use the new Chrome Splash to convert yourself, allies, or even surfaces. “While Blobbed, you'll move faster, be immune to fall damage, and gain the ability to air dash,” a blog post reads. “Dash into any building piece to Chrome-ify it then phase through it!”

Through the fear of Chrome, some of Fortnite Island’s familiar locations have been given a lift – literally. You’ll find the likes of Condo Canyon now suspended in the sky, while a new area – Herald’s Sanctum – will be yours to explore. Look carefully, because you may find a couple of fresh firearms, in the form of the EvoChrome Shotgun and EvoChrome Burst Rifle. Meanwhile, a new Slide Kick mechanic has been added to further the fun.

As for the latest Battle Pass, well, the star character is Spider-Gwen – as was rumoured. You’ll unlock Paradigm (Reality 659) from the cinematic trailer just for buying in, while other characters include the anime-style Lennox Rose and Meow Skulls. To be brutally honest, we don’t think this is the strongest selection of Battle Pass skins, but of course you’ll eligible to earn 1,500 V-Bucks back if you complete all the tiers.

How are you feeling about this latest season of Fortnite? We’re not in love with the cosmetics, but we like the gameplay additions. Will you be boarding the Battle Pass and dropping in later today?
