How Long Does It Take to Beat Red Dead Redemption 2?

So how long is Red Dead Redemption 2? Well, as with most open world games, it depends on what you want to do, and what you consider 'complete'.
If you ignore most of the side content in the game, including hunting, optional missions, freeform activities, and minigames, and focus mainly on main story missions, you'll probably be able to see the credits within 50 or so hours. If you're super quick and blitz every story mission, one after another, you might even be able to shave that time down to 30 hours or thereabouts.
If you want to see and do absolutely everything, then you're going to be playing a lot longer. We're talking 65-75 hours easy, maybe going all the way to 100 hours and above depending on how slow you take it.

Gonna drag this to 300hrs by greeting everybody I meet and playing poker for 50hrs.
@munkondi I'm 90 hours into DQXI and don't know who Calasmos is so you're probably ahead of me. I just got the ore from battlegrounds and I'm at level 45. I spent about 3 hours playing slots and I finished the first 26 side missions. I think if I played RDR2 it would take me 150 hours at least, I tend to explore everything, I got the "all puff-puffs" trophy. 😉 Might have to save it for retirement, I still have to play The Witcher 3 first anyway. And maybe Spiderman.
@rjejr: 90 hours into Dragon Quest?!?! I may have to reconsider getting that game. Games are just way to long nowadays.
@Ryno "Games are just way to long nowadays."
On the bright side it saves me money as I only have time to play 3 games a year. This year was GoW, NNK2 and DQXI. Oh and I played about 1/3 of Mario and Rabbids before I got bored.
You know if you get a Switch you can play whenever, wherever with who(m)ever. Unless you play the 3 games I played which aren't on Switch.
How long was Ni No Kuni 2? Maybe I will go with that if it is shorter as an upcoming game.
@rjejr: How is that Switch strategy working out anyway? You know the one where they blow their load in the first year and then fill in the gaps with old games and remasters?
In my opinion the first RDRedemption had one of the best examples of videogame poker, so 50 hours of my playtime will probably be spent in that alone
@Ryno And Labo. Don't forget Labo. Or better yet do.
On the bright side, they picked a good year to have a down year in games, with SSBU and Pokemon Go still to come. Next year when Sony and MS start promoting next gen they'll need to come with the games like Metroid Prime 4 and Pikmin 4 among others. They also have the advantage in the handheld market since Sony said they are getting out and MS never got in. So next year could be the year they abandon 3DS and release New Switch or 3DS Mini or something to get a little attention.
So yeah, this year was a bust, but if they can end on a high note and sell some consoles this holiday, then they'll still be in a decent place for year 3. Sophomore slump in action.
Honestly, I think people should be more worried about MS than Nintnedo. If Switch outsells Xbox 1, and PS5 launches alongside Xbox 2, what does MS have to offer? So I think the pressure is on them.
Damn, I'm glad I canceled my preorder then, don't have time for that with Spyro releasing in November, both KH3/RE2 in January, and DMC 5 in March.
