We're reaching the home stretch of Metal Gear Solid Delta now, but there are still a few important foes standing in our way, the biggest of which — in terms of sheer scale — is Volgin. This Metal Gear Solid Delta guide reveals how to beat Volgin.

How Do You Beat Volgin in Metal Gear Solid Delta?

Metal Gear Solid Delta: How to Beat Volgin Guide 1

After arming all the C3 charges in the Main Wing of the Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab, you'll be stopped in your tracks by Volgin. The huge, electronic fellow wants you to beat you for good this time.

What's obviously important to note here is that the C3 charges are a ticking time bomb, meaning you have only five minutes to beat Volgin. This countdown timer is displayed on-screen at all times. If you wish to beat him non-lethally, you'll get a new Uniform named Cold War.

Volgin mainly attacks you by shooting lightning out of his fists. These attacks will track your position, but they can be avoided by crouching at the right time. If you try to shoot Volgin with any weapon, a shield will automatically deflect the bullet. Therefore, you're going to need to get in close and use melee attacks, or CQC as the game calls it. Unequipping your gun is a good idea also, as having one equipped makes it easier for the lightning attacks to hit you.

When Volgin is charging up a lightning strike (where he puts his arm up in the air), try to be on either side of him and get in close to perform a CQC takedown. Repeat this process over and over again, only getting your gun out when he's distracted, like when he tells Ocelot to be quiet. From behind, you can get in a shot to the head. After performing a CQC slam, quickly equip your gun, and you can get another few shots in while Volgin lies on the ground.

Another way you can perform CQC takedowns on him is when he's charging at you. When he stops and changes direction, this opens up the opportunity to do a CQC slam.

When Volgin reaches half health (either through damage or stamina), a cutscene will play and Ocelot will leave the fight. During this second phase, Volgin gains new attacks, like a lightning explosion and doubling up on his standard electrical beams. This can again be avoided by either crouching down fully or running away from their damage paths.

Continue to employ the same strategies of using CQC slams when Volgin is open and you'll have the fight done pretty quickly. If you do this fight non-lethally, be sure to quickly grab the new Uniform that drops out of his body. You don't have long before the next cutscene starts.
