Hogwarts Legacy: Secrets of the Restricted Section Walkthrough
Once you've completed Professor Hecat's Assignment 1, you can return to Professor Fig and continue along the Main Quest. Unfortunately, the headmaster rudely interrupts your conversation and demands Professor Fig go to his office. As a result, you need to find a different way into the Restricted Section. Go and talk to Sebastian Sallow, as the next objective indicates. He agrees to help you get into the Restricted Section, at which point the game automatically fast-forwards to nighttime. Talk to Sebastian again and he'll teach you Disillusionment to temporarily turn yourself invisible.
Immediately equip Disillusionment to one of your face button presses to make it easy to cast the Spell. Now, have a good eye on your mini-map and stay as far away from the patrolling students as possible. Sneak by them all through the door leading into the Library, then meet up with Sebastian. You need to take the key off the librarian's desk, so wait for Sebastian to cause a distraction and then sneak up to the desk with Disillusionment still cast. Take the Library Key and then enter the Restricted Section, all without bumping into the librarian.
The book you're looking for is on the floor below, but first, you'll need to sneak by two ghosts. Use the suit of armour as a distraction and then carry on forward. On the next floor down, you're in the clear so remove the disillusionment charm and follow the linear path. Unfortunately, you’ll bump into Peeves at the end of the corridor, which will force Sebastian to leave your side. Continue on by casting Reparo on the suit of armour, then follow the staircase down to find some magic to interact with. Now go through the magical doorway in front of you.
To progress to the other side of the chasm, use a Basic Cast on the symbol above the big doorway in front of you. Some enemies will confront you in the next two rooms, then use Basic Cast again on the symbol ahead to get closer to the objective. This bridge collapses on you as you move across, so make sure you’re sprinting and be ready to jump. In the third room, get onto the moving bridge, then shoot the symbol to have the second part of the path appear. In the final room you’ll defeat more statues, and then the cutscene that follows concludes the Main Quest.
