Gryla is a very evenly structured boss fight. For most of it, the giantess will stomp around the room clutching her all-important cauldron. You'll need to take aim at the cauldron's magical runes and hit them with your arrows when they're glowing in order to deal damage to Gryla. Do enough damage, and she'll fall to one knee, allowing you to attack the cauldron at close range. This is when you start dealing big damage to Gryla's health bar.

Of course, while you're trying to get a clear shot at the cauldron, Gryla will be attempting to turn you into a small stain on her kitchen floor. Her stomps are easy to see coming, but they do have a wide attack radius. Just make sure that you're always maintaining a good distance between Atreus and her feet.

Once enough damage has been dealt, the fight will enter a new phase. Gryla will coat the entire floor of the arena with magical flames, forcing you to seek safety on her tabletops that surround the room. To get up there, you'll have to find the one place where Atreus can grapple up to safety. This grapple point doesn't change throughout the battle, so you just need remember where it is.

When you're up on the tabletops, Gryla will start sending magical projectiles your way. You can either take cover behind the various objects spread across the upper level, or you can simply avoid the missiles by dodging at the right time. Slower projectiles are also a threat. These hovering energy balls need to be shot out of the air, as they'll follow Atreus around the area.

To actually stagger Gryla at this point, you'll need to lure her towards one of the large candles on either side of the room. When she's close, have Angrboda use her magic to make it explode, and the angry old giantess will loosen her gip on the cauldron, allowing you to hit it again.

Anyway, you just need to keep hitting that cauldron whenever you can. The battle will return to the lower level of the room when Gryla is brought to her knees once more, and from this point, it's mostly a case of repeating the process.
