Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Of Robed Men and Ransoms Walkthrough

Of Robed Men and Ransoms is a Side Quest in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth that can be started in Chapter 7. As part of our Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth guide, we're going to provide a Of Robed Men and Ransoms Walkthrough that covers all the stages of the Side Quest. It takes place in the Corel Region.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Of Robed Men and Ransoms Walkthrough

Right at the very end of Chapter 7 - Those Left Behind, you'll make it to the village of North Corel, where the party meets Doctor Sheiran. Having spoken to him and gone outside, you can re-enter to pick up this Side Quest. He'll explain he's been given a ransom note, and needs you to help him out. Red XIII can sniff the letter to pick up a scent.

Follow Red's Lead

Outside, follow Red XIII as he tracks the cologne scent out of town. When you encounter it, defeat the Landworm and then the Chimera. You'll find a man camping, but he's not the guy you're looking for.

Track Down the Chocobo Carriage

The man will mention seeing a Chocobo Carriage passing by, so follow the path along to find it.

Investigate the Cave

You'll now have the flashlight equipped, allowing you to see sweat droplets in the dark. Inside the cave, take the Amethyst Collar from the purple chest and then take the left-hand path. When you come to a fork in the path, take a right and then defeat the two Chimeras in the next area, taking the right-hand tunnel afterwards.

You'll eventually track the sweat to a larger open area, with the tracks leading to a locked pair of blast doors.

Open the Shutter

To open the blast doors, follow the path up to the right and pull the lever on the console in the back to activate the cableway. Cloud can use the Grappling Hook to latch on to the machinery and make his way right to the platform holding a Rest Stop and Shops. Use the yellow ledges to climb across to the console to unlock the shutter.

Rescue the Robed Man

Enter the now-open blast doors to discover a woman and a Robed Man stuck in the cave. They'll be revealed as the culprits, but first, you'll need to beat a Dark Claw. Once defeated, the Side Quest will come to an end in a cutscene.
