Looking for all materials and where to find them in Final Fantasy 16? Materials are used to craft increasingly powerful equipment for Clive, and can also be used to upgrade existing gear. Most materials in the game are very common — often dropped by all manner of monsters — but others are exceedingly rare, and can only be obtained through specific means.

In this Final Fantasy 16 guide, we're going to list every material, complete with locations.

Final Fantasy 16: All Materials and Where to Find Them

For the purposes of this guide, we'll be categorising materials by rarity. Generally speaking, common materials can be found with ease, uncommon materials might be slightly harder to find and may only pop up in certain areas, and rare materials likely require the completion of a specific side quest or notorious mark hunt.

Common Materials

Common materials can be dropped by regular foes as well as bosses, and can also be found scattered throughout the world, either in the form of sparkles on the ground or in treasure chests. Common materials are used all the way through the game, and you'll likely amass large quantities of them very quickly.

Steelsilk

Steelsilk is dropped in bulk by humanoid enemies, as well as humanoid bosses. It can also be found out in the world and in chests.

Wyrrite

Wyrrite is perhaps the most common material in the entire game. It's found all over the world in large quantities, and is often lumped in with quest rewards.

Bloody Hide

Bloody Hide is frequently dropped by monsters, and is typically used in the crafting of belts or vambraces.

Magicked Ash

Magicked Ash is found throughout the world and in chests. It's also dropped by enemies that use some form of magic, or are more immaterial in nature.

Sharp Fang

Sharp Fangs are frequently dropped by monsters of all shapes and sizes.

Uncommon Materials

Uncommon materials are still fairly easy to find, but you might hit a point where you're running low — especially if you've been crafting a lot of equipment. Uncommon materials are sometimes dropped by regular enemies, as well as bosses, and many of them are found in specific world zones.

Meteorite

Meteorite is used a lot in crafting, and you should usually have enough of it to go around. But in the event that you don't, it can be dropped by larger enemies out in the world. Numerous side quests reward Meteorite as well, as do boss fights.

Dragon Talon

Dragon Talons are dropped by wyvern and dragon monsters, often in bulk.

Valley Madder

Valley Madder is found throughout The Empire of Sanbreque specifically, often in the wilds near the town of Lostwing. It can also be bought at shops.

Clouded Eye

Clouded Eye is dropped by a story boss, but it can also be dropped by Air Elementals, which are only found at one specific point in the game. Fortunately, Clouded Eye is rarely used in crafting.

Minotaur Mane

Minotaur Mane is dropped by — you guessed it — minotaur enemies. It's scarcely used in crafting, so you won't need many.

Imperial Link is dropped by imperial troops and bosses. You should have more than enough of it just by playing through the game's main quests.

Briar Clam Shells

Briar Clam Shells are found around Martha's Rest in Rosaria. You'll have to go trekking through the swamps if you want an ample supply, although you can also buy them from shops.

Bone Necklace

Bone Necklace is dropped by goblins, which are found in set locations throughout the world.

Empty Shard

Empty Shard is found in treasure chests, and is a reward for reaching 135 renown.

Coeurl Whisker

Coeurl Whisker is dropped by, well, coeurls. You'll get enough of them through the main story, but certain notorious marks and endgame enemies also drop them.

Desert Rose

Desert Rose is found across The Velkroy Desert, both as a sparkle on the ground and in treasure chests. It can also be bought at shops.

Clutchmine

Clutchmine is needed to craft some fairly powerful equipment later in the game, but you may find that you don't have a whole lot of it. You can pick it up throughout Waloed, and you can buy it in shops. You also get it in bulk as a reward for reaching 1635 renown.
