There are 9 Hats and 2 Hoods in the game, and you'll unlock them either through main story progression or by levelling up your Connection Levels at Facilities.

You can equip Hats and Hoods in any Private Room by panning the camera over to your Backpack and selecting Customise Look. It was given to Sam by the Data Scientist as a token of her gratitude, and is a testament to Sam's ability to hop to any task with gusto. When equipped, Sam will automatically pull the hood over his head during periods of timefall or while swimming.

Camel Hood

A hood shaped like a camel — the ideal companion when humping through the desert. It reduces stamina drain in the heat, and slightly increases cargo capacity. The hood's water supply will restore Sam's stamina if it drops to a certain level, and is replenished when the hood is exposed to timefall or immersed in water.
