We could've thrown any LEGO game on this list, but DC Super-Villains is probably our favourite on PS4. As always, you can play it with a buddy with its drop-in/out co-op. It's lighthearted, fun local multiplayer, and a great game for parents to play with their kids.

Announced for PS4 years before its eventual release in 2017, Gang Beasts is mad, scrappy, and sort of genius. You and up to three others control the candy coloured, gelatinous Beasts, and your aim is to eliminate the other players from a selection of unusual levels by any means necessary. The results can be uproariously funny, with wacky physics causing all sorts of slapstick mayhem. With its irreverent style, this one's a real crowd pleaser.

Rayman Legends has been around for a long time, but its local co-op is still grin-inducing fun. Running, jumping, and punching your way through each gorgeous level with a few friends is highly entertaining, not least because you can scrap with each other as you compete for collecting the most lums. Also included is Kung Foot, a surprisingly great football mini-game that could last you almost as long as the main campaign. Colourful, silly, and effortlessly playable, this comes highly recommended.

Isn’t it nice when a game comes along that takes the unique attributes of the medium and utilises them in a unique way? Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a deeply social game, and it’s at its best when played with the most antisocial hardware of all: PlayStation VR. While you no longer require Sony’s pricey headset for this cunningly communicative game, the different perspectives it enables mean it plays best in virtual reality. The premise, then? You’ve got a bomb to defuse, and only your allies can read the instructions. You need to relay information between you in order to make the right decisions, otherwise – as the title alludes – you’ll all go boom.
