INSIDE and This War of Mine: Complete Edition. $2 a pop.

I think I have TWoM via EGS, but I'm not going to play that game on my PC, so it doesn't really matter.

Currently Playing: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (SD)

@Ralizah Nice little bargains you got there. TWoM is a good game but I found it incredibly difficult to play for more than a few hours. I might have made some bad decisions in the game, but there are some things you can do in the game which made me feel really uncomfortable. Not a game to play if you need cheering up.

@JohnnyShoulder I'm not generally a huge fan of 2D puzzle-platformery games, but I recall Sammy raving about the game and am extra interested in games that'll show off the capabilities of my new OLED Switch, so for $2, I thought: "Why not?"

Yeah, I'm not sure how I'll feel about TWoM. I don't really think my view of humanity or expectations for the future of our species can go much lower at this point, so I doubt it'll bother me, but I'm not the sort who takes immense joy in emotional torture porn, either. It also seems like the sort of game that might not control well on a console. I assume you played on a PS4/5. Did you have any control issues with the game?

@Ralizah Yeah I played it on PS4 and I don't recall any control issues, but it was a number of years ago. I think you directly control the player character. A quick Google and some people have reported that aiming and goining in/out of buildings can be a bit fiddly on consoles.

@JohnnyShoulder Makes sense. The lack of recall concerning crippling control issues probably bodes well, though.

Thanks!

Just ordered Dirt 5, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered and Burnout Paradise Remastered on Xbox. Been playing a lot of NFS: Payback and I'm loving the sections where you wreck other cars, so I just had to get Hot Pursuit and Burnout Paradise since those games are all about that. I also had a good time trying out Dirt 5 so I'm looking forward to playing the full game.

Didn't purchase these games now, but I "rediscovered" DriveClub on PS4, Need for Speed Most Wanted on Vita and Ridge Racer Unbounded on PS3 (funny enough, one racing game for every PlayStation console I have lol). Got all these games a long time ago but deleted them since I wasn't into racing games back then. I'm now very excited to give these a go, especially DriveClub since I've heard great things about it and Most Wanted since it's a handheld open world racer.

This is a bucket list game for me - it took a bloody long time to find one that didn't cost the same as a black market liver. Untitled I just hope it's as good as its reputation suggests!

@LN78 Interesting, didn't know the game was rare. I remember Microsoft giving away the digital version on Xbox Live Gold some time ago and so I've had it in my backlog all this time. I just thought it was another one of those arcade titles from Japan, lol.

I just looked it up and apparently, it's only available on Xbox 360 in the West, which is super weird! Makes me glad then that I managed to snag it for free. I also saw that it's made by Treasure, who also made the Sin & Punishment games on N64/Wii. I've played the Wii game, which was phenomenal, so I might just have to give Radiant Silvergun a go as well.

@LtSarge I can testify from personal experience that the Saturn version is an absolute ballache to find - at least with a sensible pricetag. Mine doesn't have the spine card (which a lot of hardcore Saturn completionists insist upon) - if it had it would've probably cost double what I paid. I was gutted that I missed that 360 version way back when - as well as all of those brilliant delisted Konami arcade ports. "Ikaruga" (spiritual successor to "Radiant Silvergun") is another Japanese Shmup that you might like - cheap on Switch, stupid money on Gamecube.

Just bought Valiant Hearts: The Great War, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, Grow Up and I Am Alive in the Ubisoft sale on Xbox for a total of €15. Looking forward to playing these games!

Thrillho

@LtSarge Valiant Hearts is a great little game. I really liked the art style, the puzzles were interesting but never frustrating, and it combined the WWI history into the game really well.

Thrillho

LtSarge

@Thrillho Yeah I've heard great things about it and I love history so it should be a fun experience!

While making some PS4 purchases, I decided to order some Xbox 360 games as well. I saw that Shift 2: Unleashed, Hitman: Absolution and Army of Two: The 40th Day were €10 each so I grabbed all three of them. Shouldn't be a surprise that I got Shift 2 as I'm continuously looking for more racing games to buy and this one seemed pretty good. Also recalled discussing with @RogerRoger a while ago about which Hitman game I should start out with and I decided to go with Absolution due to its linearity. Perhaps now's finally the time to delve into this beloved franchise!

Finally, I just had to get The 40th Day as well. I've been eyeing this game since I got my 360 back in 2010. For some reason I never got around to buying it, until now that is. So I'm very excited to finally give this game a go after all these years.

Has anybody used Price Charting dot com to catalogue and track their collections? I'm considering subscribing to their premium tier but not sure if it's a reliable or accurate service.

@LtSarge Sweet, thanks for the callback and I hope you enjoy Absolution when you try it! Looking forward to reading your thoughts!

I just ordered a second copy of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. The first copy I received around 12-18 months ago turned up in a transparent CD case and it’s been bugging me ever since (literally triggering my OCD every time my eyes fall on it).

So, let’s say this second copy actually turns up in a proper PS3 case, I’d be happy to give my first copy (& its transparent CD case) away to anyone who might want it?

**** DLC!

Just ordered Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes on Switch for €40. Saw that an online retailer put the game on sale just now and for that price, I decided to get it. I think the Nintendo musou games go fairly cheap because I bought Age of Calamity for maybe €30-35 a while back. So I probably could've gotten Three Hopes cheaper if I'd waited a bit longer, but I've been wanting to buy it and more Switch games in general so this was a good opportunity to do so now.

@LtSarge I look forward to playing Three Hopes someday. I still have to play Three Houses first, but I will get to Three Hopes at some point.

@KilloWertz Same here, I haven't played Three Houses yet either but I have it in my backlog. I don't know when I'll play it though. One reason why I haven't played certain games in my Switch backlog is because I have other titles in the series on 3DS that I still haven't played yet. I really want to play Fire Emblem Awakening and Birthright before getting to Three Houses. Same with e.g. Bravely Default as I have the first one and Bravely Second to play before Bravely Default II on Switch. So it's going to be a while before I get to those games.

On a side note, I just started playing Immortals Fenyx Rising on Switch, which is basically a mix between BotW and AC: Odyssey. It feels great to be playing another open world game like BotW on the Switch.

@LtSarge Play Three Houses before Awakening and Fates. It’s a lot more accessible and forgiving. I’d probably recommend Echoes after Three Houses actually, it’s a great remake and that way you’ll get the two games with entirely different structures out the way before tackling the more traditional map-based games.
