Bought in preparation for playing on my Steam Deck OLED next year. All on Steam, obvs:

  • REmake HD
  • Resident Evil Zero
  • Resident Evil 3
  • Yakuza Kiwami 2
  • Yakuza: Like A Dragon

In retrospect, I wish I'd also purchased Yakuza 3 on sale, but it's not like I'll have any lack of these games to play next year. As for RE, those three games, plus a second playthrough of RE2 as Claire, will last me a good bit. Going through the series mostly in order starting next year until I catch up (will pick up RE4R and RE7 for 2025 in the future, bypassing 5 & 6 entirely).

Just ordered Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope for €20. Still baffles me how fast Ubisoft games go down in price considering that this game come out only one year ago. Was definitely worth waiting on buying it.

I'm convinced Ubisoft's price cratering antics are why initial sales for the sequel were way lower than for the original. Nintendo fans aren't nearly as accustomed to that pricing strategy, and I'm sure it annoyed more than a few people who preordered it expecting it'd hold its value for some time.

@Ralizah For sure. I just can't imagine paying full price for a Ubisoft title. At least Assassin's Creed Mirage was priced at €40 at launch, which is a very reasonable price for a new game.

Can't wait to see how fast the new Avatar game will go down in price!

On a side note, I think EA's strategy is even more ridiculous. Putting €80 titles on their service that only costs €4 a month one year after release is madness. Why would I ever consider buying games like the Dead Space remake or Star Wars Jedi Survivor when I can play them one year later for only €4?

@LtSarge I chose to buy it at launch to support the game, since I really love the series, but I knew it'd be $20 or less in a year. It's why I buy almost nothing from them anywhere close to full price.

The same was true of Sony last gen, although their games seem to be dropping less rapidly in price so far with the PS5 generation.

Super Mario RPG for Switch...haven't had time to touch it yet, though.

Ordered some more games during the Black Friday sales. I got Evil West, Steelrising and Atomic Heart on Series X for €75 in total. All look like fun and unique games, so I'm really happy with these purchases. Looking forward to playing them!

Just pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on Series X.

I honestly decided on a whim to buy this game. I've been listening to the soundtrack of the John Wick movies on Spotify. Then my playlist recommended me some tracks from the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack and I started listening to those. And now I just really want to play Cyberpunk 2077 lol.

I have the base game on Xbox and I played the game for about an hour but I figured it'd be for the best to just grab the Ultimate edition and start over. All the updates are on disc and the DLC is also on disc (which is the reason why I chose the Xbox version). I think the game is finally ready to be experienced now.

@KilloWertz It sure is! But in two weeks it'll be happy again when I get the PlayStation Portal.

@colonelkilgore Nice. I have that tomb raider classics, also the tomb raider double pack on psp (was legend and another one).
Are you looking forward to the PS4/5 remaster next year? I just hope they do a good job because I'm not confident with these old remasters.

In other news, I just started Nioh 2...wow what an infuriating game, the bosses have way too much health. It took me all afternoon to beat the snake boss, not fun trying to fight perfectly for nearly ten minutes. Good boss fight ruined by way too much HP...this sums up the game for me at this point.

@CaptD yeah I’ve wishlisted the I-III remasters… prob won’t pay full price but will pick them up when they hit a decent sale.

Yeah I saw that you started Nioh 2 when I logged on earlier this week… I found quite a few of the bosses a genuine struggle tbh. Strangely, the only boss that I didn’t struggle with was the most recent boss I fought before I took a hiatus, which was a giant owl. I dug a little into the general consensus on its difficulty and most people seem to consider it one of the toughest souls-likes by all accounts.

So I've also purchased Resident Evil 7, Monster Hunter World + Iceborne, Control: Ultimate Edition, Gal*Gun: Double Peace, Corpse Factory, and a few other games in bundles.

Just ordered Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Super Mario RPG on Switch. I wanted to buy them at launch but there have been so many games releasing these past months that I wouldn't have had the time to play them. But now I'm actually in the mood for a Nintendo adventure during my holiday break. I'm thinking I want to start up Wonder first since it's been a hot minute since I played a 2D platformer.

bought the old NES game Ski or Die. Loved playing that game back then when i was a kid. alot of fun with the snowball fight and the halfpipe. the tubin mini game was alright too back then. Too bad they didnt make Ski or Die 2 with more winter fun games to play

The Yakuza Remastered Collection on Steam. It was $10. I couldn't resist.

@HallowMoonshadow LOL

It's a cute series, believe it or not. Double Peace is probably the best one in the series, with decent level pacing, the best cast of characters, and plenty of stuff to do through multiple playthroughs.

I actually just finished up replaying Resident Evil 2 on there using Clair this time (I'd only ever played Leon's route before). So cool to play a game like that on a handheld!

@Ralizah It's crazy to me how far behind Nintendo is now with their handheld device compared to the competitors. The Steam Deck and in my opinion even the PlayStation Portal are much better options than the Switch. Not only in terms of controls but also graphical fidelity and the library of games. You can play modern games like Resident Evil 4 Remake and Elden Ring on Steam Deck and PlayStation Portal, but not on Switch.

I haven't played anything that impressive on my Portal yet, but I can just imagine playing something like Resident Evil 2 Remake on it and being absolutely blown away.

Ralizah

@LtSarge Well, that's what happens when you're first to the race and don't release more powerful mid-gen models. I still love my SWOLED, but it's definitely relegated to exclusives only now (and games I already own for it). Even putting aside the power benefits of the Deck OLED, it also has much nicer sticks, a more comfortable form factor, and I can also play the games on my computer.

And, frankly, the compatibility issues I'd heard about haven't really been an issue so far. Most games I'm interested in are verified to work by Valve. Some aren't, but if you look up user reports, those unsupported games usually still work out well anyway lol.

Some current-gen games REALLY push the Deck, but are still playable. Returnal is a little dicey, from what I've heard, but Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart works really well on it. I'm curious to see how the Horizon Forbidden West DLC does on it, considering Steam is getting the Complete Edition of that game next year.

I'll probably eventually get the next Switch, but knowing Valve is working on an ultra-powerful Steam Deck 2 behind the scenes for release later this decade, Nintendo is going to have to work harder to sell me on their next-gen console with really good exclusives, because as far as I'm concerned, the Deck is my new go-to for hybrid gaming.

@LN78 wow… well that was a blast from the past!

psmr

@LN78 I never actually played it… but I did seriously weigh it up as a potential purchase back when the Dreamcast released. Iirc it reviewed fairly well… but I ended up going Ready 2 Rumble, Soul Calibur, Power Stone, Metropolis Street Racer, Resident Evil: Code Veronica and Trickstyle… good times!

Just bought Everspace on Series X. I've been wanting to play this series as I've heard great things about the second game when it was added on Game Pass. So when I saw that the first one was discounted, I just had to get it. Spaceship RPG/looter shooter just sounds like a very fun formula. If the first game appeals to me, then I might also buy the sequel.
