@Gamer83, I actually switched up characters a lot on the second mission (the Raft) so that was probably my issue (but at the same time it kinda sucks that you're effectively locked into a small group of heroes, as it'd be more fun to mix & match).
I went back a bit to level up and I was able to crush Kingpin this morning.

I've just finished chapter 4 of Fire Emblem three houses and am adoring the game! I've played 10 hours which shows just how much time the academy and paralogue battles have also taken, but so far the game just feels like the perfect evolution of the fire emblem franchise, and I can't wait to play more of it. If it carries on like this it will probably be my game of the year
I'm just playing Super Mario Maker 2 on my sprase breaks from work. Turns out when I make a stage I take an idea, expand it, think it's crap and then get comments praising it.
I don't get it

@BranJ0 The expansive monastery and the huge amount of activities available to engage in each month really makes this game's world feel real and alive. Great evolution from the series' traditional focus on battles and lots of dialogue boxes (I really dig how nearly every line of dialogue in this game is voiced).
I have mixed feelings about my students, though (Golden Deer). Hilda is a GREAT unit, but her and Lorenz's support conversations make me want to strangle them. Although it is, admittedly, very funny seeing Lorenz fail so hard at flirting: my MC has had to pull him aside twice to tell him that he's creeping out the female students in my house.
About 24 hours in now. It's all I've played since last Friday.
I doubt it'll top NieR: Automata's OST, but it's looking like it'll be a strong second (for Platinum, that is). Such a pity we can't plug our headphones into our controllers when playing on the Switch.
I guess I'll just need to play this undocked if the resolution and framerate hold up!

@KratosMD You're gonna love it! I've been very busy and have had a really hard time tearing myself away from it, everything about it is just so engrossing and addictive, and a lot of care and effort has clearly been put into the game!
@Ralizah I hated the base building feature in Fates and just wanted to get to the next map (it just felt like boring and unnecessary busywork to me) so was very skeptical about if I'd enjoy the monastery, but suffice to say I love it! I really enjoy the whole "goal" system that the game has, really makes it feel as if you're building your army from scratch, and I can't wait to be at the end of the game and see just how far my team has come - it's just incredibly satisfying to slowly build towards a variety of classes for your units, and it always feels as if they're progressing.
Ahh I don't know much about the golden deer units beyond what you're told at the beginning when you're trying to decide which house to choose, but I went for blue lions cause I liked its cast of characters the most, and Dimitri as a chivalrous knight was a dark backstory really intrigued me. At least we can agree that any one of these characters are more 3D and well thought out than the entire gimmick cast of Fates!
@Link41 A wired controller with no gyro?
Eh. That's one sacrifice too many.
Thanks for posting, though. If they ever make a more expensive version that still has the headphone jack, I'll heavily consider using it.
@BranJ0 This game's cast of female characters, in particular, is so, so much better than Fates. Somehow we went from creepy otaku pandering where you could actually marry your biological or adoptive sisters (gag!) to the best female representation I've probably ever seen in a Japanese game. Even the worst, most stereotypical female character in the game still has some layers and isn't over-sexed or anything.
@Ralizah There's one bit at the beginning of Fates that comes to mind, when Elise, your adoptive sister who looks about 12 at most says something childish and Leo responds with "when are you going to behave like the adult you technically are" which just made me cringe so much and laugh at their attempts to make it seem acceptable to romance her. Anyway, thankfully I've seen nothing of the sort in Three Houses and the female character representation is, like you said, probably the best I've seen in a Japanese game!
In MUA3 tonight I finished up the Avengers Tower mission, then played long enough into the Xavier Institute mission to unlock Psylocke & Nightcrawler.
This is the part of the game that they showcased during "Treehouse Live" at E3, and if I remember right, after the next few hurdles I should be unlocking Deadpool.

41 hours into Fire Emblem: Three Houses and I'm not even halfway through my first playthrough yet! Very little of it feels like needless padding, though. Progression systems are everywhere and, no matter what I'm doing, it advances something that contributes to enriching me, making me stronger, and/or helping me to learn more about the people around me.
This is already my favorite Fire Emblem game. It it stays excellent to the end, it might end up being my favorite Switch game. It has some flaws (a little on the easy side for series vets, even on hard mode, and while it looks good undocked, the visuals do feel very last gen on the home console side of things), but this is easily my favorite game of 2019 now. Sorry, Resident Evil 2! I still love you, though.
It looks like I'll be playing all four routes, though, as they're apparently pretty radically different.
@KratosMD It's becoming a WRPG machine, too. Pillars of Eternity, The Outer Worlds, The Witcher 3, Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, etc. on a handheld. Insanity.
But yeah, they announced that collection early last year, I believe. It took so long to materialize that I had kind of forgotten about it.
Pity we won't see much in the way of Falcom support. They're 110% invested in the Playstation ecosystem.
@KratosMD I don't own one (I just use the 8bitdo wireless adapter to connect a DS4 or Wii U Pro when I don't want to play with the joycon controllers; you lose the HD rumble, but they work well otherwise, and the DS4 even has gyro support! Plus, it only cost me $20 or so), but I've heard nothing but good things about it. Pretty much everyone I know who owns one says it's incredibly comfortable. So, if you play the system docked a lot, it's probably a good buy.
I held off, though. I'm not a huge fan of the asymmetrical Xbox controller-esque layout. I mostly (probably 70% of the time) play the system undocked. And I have a ton of other controllers laying around that work with the adapter.
@KratosMD
My Switch is docked the vast majority of the time I play games on it so I bought a Pro controller. The price is steep but I couldn't possibly recommend it more, would even go as far as to say I think it's the best controller Nintendo has ever put out. I much prefer the analog stick layout compared to what the Wii U Pro had.
@Gamer83 Wii U Pro works well enough, but it's so sleek and light that it feels sort of like a cheap budget controller. I hear the Switch Pro feels weightier.
What has your experience with the D-Pad been, by the way? I've heard a lot of complaints about accidental inputs when using it.
Currently Playing: Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition
@KratosMD For handheld mode, have you looked into getting a grip? I find that the long, untextured feel of the system when it's undocked is sort of uncomfortable until I put a grip on it to give my fingers something to wrap around.
@KratosMD The NSPC (Ha) is my favourite controller period. It's my preferred way to play even PC games. The gyro is excellent (And actually bloody used) and the HD Rumble in the grips is excellent. 40 hours battery life (Which rarely creeps up on me actually. I charge both of mine maybe once a month if that, USB-C charging (THANK YOU!!!!) and large, comfortable triggers.
The D-Pad is good, and the buttons are all nice and large. Everything is present and accounted for, plus the sticks have further travel. The controller comes in around 246g, so a little less than the console itself sans Joy-Con, and the weight is evenly distributed between the rumble motors in the grips, and the heavier components towards the top.
It also has full native Steam support, complete with Gyro, of course that goes on a "Does this game ACTUALLY work with controllers or not" basis, as with any controller on Steam, and as someone who cant use Xbox controllers due to being too large for someone with hand injuries, let it be known this controller by some miracle hits the sweet spot.
You can get a lot of mileage out of this thing.

@Ralizah
I haven't had any issues with the d-pad and I've had the controller since March 2017 not too long after I got my Switch. I use it a lot because I play a ton of Street Fighter. There's no wear and tear, no issues with wrong inputs. It's a 10/10 accessory, imo.
