@Th3solution bloody hell… that is incredibly high praise! Well if I (or you I’d imagine) feel half as positive about the game as that podcast-guy, I’ll be over the moon.
@graymamba
Whoa there sunny, you’re not the only ubi fan out there.
Joking aside I’ve seen quite a few adverts on YouTube for the new AC game, they are at least trying to sell it.
Also just seen a top 10 hardest RE Cheevos on WatchMojo (yes yes I know they are pants), I have a few of them but have never been great at the RE games and there is normally a roadblock, be it Mercenaries or speed running. Anyhoo one of the top 10 was invisible enemies in RE1R and I have to admit it was the most stupid mode ever, what muppet* dreamt that up.
*And no you don’t need to tell me that it was the godfather of survival horror, probably.
@CaptD sorry dude, I forgot that I had a partner in that particular crime 😅. That trophy sounds bloody awful… maybe I’ll shove Resident Evil back another year 🫠
@graymamba
Definitely don’t do that as it is a great game which still holds up surprisingly well, it’s just the invisible mode is a bit daft but then I guess that is RE, I mean whatever next? Playing as a stick of tofu?
However do give the trophy guide a quick look before you start as you can make it really difficult for yourself (possibly insanely difficult tbh).
@CaptD will do mate, I have a vague recollection of there being around 5/6 playthroughs required. Presumably invisible enemies and tofu protagonist accounts for 2 of those 😉. In all seriousness though, the stick of tofu thing does register with me… but it’s giving one of the sequels if I ain’t mistaken 🤔… though it could be this one I guess… it’s been a while since I’ve checked the trophies.
Sounds like I got a couple of toughies coming up then, as I’m planning on starting the Devil May Cry and Resi series’s during the same month 🫠
I finally beat Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 on the PS5 and got the platinum for it, approximately 10 minutes ago. I’m very proud of this achievement. Phenomenal game. Now I can put my main focus on Suikoden 1 until Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition releases.
@Kraven congrats buddy, I haven’t looked into the platinum for KC:D2 but I can imagine the amount of dedication it would need 👏.
Just finished my second playthrough of Darksiders on Apocalyptic difficulty. Would never consider myself a speed-runner of any description… but managed to get the whole run done in a day. Quite an intense and long session but the plat is done and I can move on to the next game having had a damn good time!
@Kraven
Congrats on what looks like another tricky but awesome platinum.
Of course you will have to play it all over again when the hardcore mode drops in a few months.
@Jimmer-jammer thanks buddy, it’s gonna be a while until I play the sequel though. It’ll probably be around this time next year tbh… I ain’t in any rush though, I reckon I’ll just about be chomping-at-the-bit to get back to the Darksiders world by then.
@Jimmer-jammer out of interest, as a way of setting my expectations in advance… if you had one sentence to put your feelings about the sequel into words, what would you say?
Finished Robocop last night. Fun game with a deep respect for the series. Graphically it is a bit of a mixed bag, with the enviroments looking good but the human characters looking like a Bethesda game two gens ago. And there is a weird graphical glitch when the screen pixalates for a micro-second during cutscenes when transitioning between different characters during dialogue. And on one section the frame rate tanked and I had to reload a save.
Overall though I really enjoyed it, enough to get the platiunum which was straight forward enough.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
Just finished Call of Duty: Black Ops III on PS5. Another great CoD campaign, although it wasn't as memorable as other campaigns. It also lacked the high-octane moments that the campaigns are known for.
I like the Black Ops games though compared to the other CoD titles. The stories are always so thought-provoking, surrealistic and interesting as opposed to the more grounded entries. The third Black Ops is no different, it paints a grim picture of the future, which is completely plausible.
I just beat Suikoden 1 for the first time. It’s an absolute classic JRPG, and has become one of my all time favorites. I’m now in a pickle - I want to start Suikoden 2, but I know I won’t have the game beaten by the time Xenoblade Chronicles X releases, so I’m debating whether I go ahead and play it or play a game that’s much smaller in scope.
@Jimmer-jammer That’s a great question! Sorry for the late reply, by the way. If I had to give one piece of advice it would be to not avoid combat because it comes into play significantly around the last 10 hours of the game. And I’d also recommend to have quite a bit of food with you.
Rolled credits on Jedi Survivor and man, it’s really really good. Very much Empire Strikes Back to the first game’s New Hope at least story wise. Cal gets pretty OP pretty quickly but it makes narrative sense that he’s a complete monster shredding Stormtroopers for fun. Having Battle Droids back was great too, their little witticisms never got old and yet another reminder that the prequels did not lack creativity if nothing else. Plot wise this is easily the best traditional Star Wars content since at least The Clone Wars’ final season. Andor’s probably all that beats it. It’s also very nice to see romantic beats be part of a main story in a game and it feeling entirely organic and natural, it’s a major part of life and video games just don’t treat it well with the harem crap and player choice making it feel like the work of sociopaths who view people as objects. Yes, the game is an absolute disaster technically but there’s enough heart and soul to make up for that. Even if a girl’s head was vibrating at the speed of sound 5 feet from her body in the cantina.
Finished the main mission campaign on Generation Zero yesterday and while I get that it’s not for everyone, it was definitely for me. A great big open-world full of locations to loot, a deep and ominous atmosphere and while the gunplay felt a bit rigid and restricted at first I actually grew to really enjoy the combat.
Particular praise for the various enemy types, they all look great and each have their own specific characteristics and weak spots etc. If you’re anything like me, ie someone who really enjoys the Far Cry series and are missing that open world fps gameplay-loop, you could do a lot worse than to give this a go.
@graymamba
Pleased you enjoyed it and yes it starts out making a poor impression with the player at a significant disadvantage, fortunately I’m too stubborn to let a game beat me and managed to improve my character and the weapons to be able to take the fight to the enemy.
The only thing I didn’t like about the game was that awful bicycle, where is my quad Bike?
In fact there is a trophy in the dlc which requires you to race down a ski slope on the bike, thankfully the time requirements were quite lenient.
