Amazon's cloud gaming platform. Normally I wouldn't bother, but apparently there's a small rotating selection of games that Prime members can play "free", so I figured I could try it out without losing out on anything.

This month's Prime games are Control, Steel Assault (an indie Mega Man inspired game), Myst, & Garfield Kart: Furious Racing.

Seems to work well enough on my home internet, though trying to play anything with the digital gamepad is a nightmare. Luckily, it does recognize the controller grip I bought for my phone (which I got when I was toying around with Game Pass last summer) which makes the experience much more pleasant, though I haven't given it a heavy session yet.

Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

September games Prime members play free:

  • Everspace
  • Hot Wheels Unleashed
  • Yooka-Laylee & the Impossible Lair
  • Riptide GP Renegade
  • Earthworm Jim
  • Ys IX: Monstrum Nox

Honestly a pretty good selection here. Really wanna play Ys IX, but I doubt I'd be able to finish it within the month.

@RR529 I played Ys IX: Monstrum Nox for 34 hours. I completed the game but didn’t do all the side quests. Sounds doable in a month.

It was my second favourite game the year it came out and I would certainly consider it worth playing.

Yooka-Laylee & the Impossible Lair is the only other game on that list that I’ve played. I put 14 hours into it. I can’t remember if I completed it but I’m pretty sure I was at least close to the end. It’s decent but I prefer Ys.

@Ryall, If this was my only avenue of gaming I'd absolutely jump into Ys IX, but as it is I'm still working through XC3 on Switch & I know there's just no way I could focus on two JRPGs at once (while making notable progress on either). I've really enjoyed all the Ys games I've played, so I know I'll grab it on Steam eventually.

As it so happens, Impossible Lair is probably the game of the bunch I'll probably end up focusing on. Based on what I've played so far I can definitely understand the DKC comparisons.
