3G model. I'm a long time fan boy of Sony's. Loved there hardware and first party titles since the beginning. Never had a problem putting out cash for them. But i cant see myself purchasing more 3G data service after my one month trial expires. A month of 3G costs $20. I currently pay $30 monthly for using my mobile which also has 3G service. To add another $20 on 3G a month in this economic climate just doesn't sit right with me.

But in my opinion i don't think Sony will lose out, only the network providers which I have to say I had nothing but customer service problems with while trying to sign up for my one month free 3G data. One call went on for 14 mins and i was switched back between 3 operators and in the end was put back to the first guy again who wanted to transfer me again. After that i just sent a complaint by email and within 2 hours i had them call back with a manager who then proceeded to solve everything.

Everything in a new software launch should run a smoothly as possible and i think on Sony's end it did but in relation to other providers looking to take on the role of offering assistance i think more research about the product should have been done and cause of that they have lost a customer.

My only reason to return is if Sony do something that will require 3G other than NEAR that would peak my interest but until than my iphone caters to my web needs.

I actually like my 3G model and I've had a good time playing with NEAR while perusing through my city. The non-contract, low monthly cost is nice too.

I also really enjoy the 3G features, but not for Near. I use it in at least 4 games and it's really helpful towards adding extra gameplay time. The 250MB data package is stupidly expensive in the States though (only £5 here in blighty Britain) and 3GB is impossible to reach in 30 days. Even I couldn't reach that!!

The four games that I use 3G for are Dynasty Warriors Next (connecting with other players wirelessly whilst playing through Campaign mode), Everybody's Golf (submitting and entering the latest Daily Tournaments), Ridge Racer (downloading and uploading ghost data) and Unit 13 (daily mission and uploading high scores). You could even say that I use it for Motorstorm RC and WipEout 2048 as well as you set times in those games.

I think all AT&T (I presume that's the provider over there) will need to do is scrap the 3GB plan and lower the price of the 250MB plan to something around $8 per month.

EXTRA: Just checked how much data I have left. I topped up on the 24th Feb and it expires on the 24th March, but I have 232MB of 249MB remaining. Good thing I'll be using nothing but 3G next week on holiday in Scotland!
