Same idea as the anime thread, but instead we're discussing Western country animation. It can be anything as young as Paw Patrol, Bluey etc, up to adult animation like Archer, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Final Space etc.
Wolf King: Seasons 1 & 2 (2025)
This was a fun animated series, with a good mix of action/adventure, thrills, and comedy.
I'm really hoping it gets renewed for more episodes, Season 2 does end on a cliffhanger.
Haunted Hotel (2025)
I had a "spooky time" watching this, there was a fun mix of action/adventure, suspense, and comedy.
Please note this isn't a children's cartoon, there's blood, death/murder, cursing, and sexual themes.
Even though it is anime-themed. Samurai Jack is definitely an animated series that falls under the "Western Animation" tag. I have almost completed Season One, and, as my display picture may suggest π, have been greatly enjoying it so far. I think the director made another series called Primal ,which is also meant to be action-based, and some fans of Tartakovsky's work in general may enjoy this as well, but, as a fellow 'swordsman', myself, I think I will retain my loyalty to Jack for the time being ππ.
Just finished the 'Scotsman' episode, and it was good to see Jack fighting alongside another character against Aku's minions, as he is normally a lone warrior in these early episodes, but who knows what kind of encounters his journey will lead him to next?
"Preoccupied with a single leaf, you wonβt see the tree. Preoccupied with a single tree, youβll miss the entire forest. Don't be preoccupied with a single spot. See everything in its entirety...effortlessly. That is what it means...to truly "see." "
Western adult animation is one of my guilty pleasures. Or just regular pleasures, I guess.
I am starting to get kind of wary of starting any newer ones as they have a habit of getting cancelled. Even Futurama, one of the all time greats and one of the most recognisable western animated shows, has struggled and been cancelled multiple times.
I've watched and enjoyed many of varying degrees of quality. But, usually, even the smaller shows all have some aspect that makes them stand out or well worth a watch.
Some of the smaller animated comedy shows worth a mention: Final Space (real comfort watching, I absolutely loved it. Cancelled and deleted from existence by Warner's damn merger) Inside Job (great cast, good concept. Fun show. Cancelled) Captain Fall (weird concept. underrated. Cancelled) Mulligan (honestly not very good, probably the worst of the list by a mile, so maybe I wouldn't recommend it, but i'm mentioning it anyway, it seems... maybe the cast made it alright. Maybe not. Cancelled) Solar Opposites (kind of dumb fun, it serves a purpose when you're in the mood for that kind of thing. It has the trademark rick and morty "side story" element going for it. I also quite liked Dan Stevens replacing Roiland.) Disenchantment (I loved it for vibes alone. An animated show based fully in a medieval fantasy setting. Basically what Futurama was for Sci-fi, even if it didn't reach the same highs)
Some of the bigger shows: Archer (easy to rewatch, it just has the x-factor. I feel like I actually prefer the side characters, and it is a show that clearly started as one thing, but the cast were so good and so well recieved that it got expanded on pretty quickly to become a proper ensemble show) Bojack Horseman (it's so bleak. But it is so well made. Outstanding cast) Futurama (A classic. A perfect concept. Allowed Groening to explore the love of sci-fi more in depth.) Rick & Morty (dumbest smart show, or smartest dumb show. I never quite know. It certainly has an insufferable fanbase π¬ I loved it when it was at it's most smart and snarky because I love good sci-fi, and I don't mind dumb fun. I do not see myself as Rick Sanchez as a large chunk of the fan base seems to though. That is where it is a little weird. At it's best is when it had a tight storyline with improv over the top of it. So it only really fully works when both Harmonn and Roiland were firing on all cylinders. My opinion on it shifts a fair bit, I guess.)
