@nessisonett huh. I did not know that. Well, makes it a bit easier to swallow that they decided to suddenly drop it in. Still, like, why not have some reference beforehand at just about any point during this nearly two decade run of superhero movies that he's losing his hearing lol? Or maybe i missed a nod along the way.
@colonelkilgore yeah I've no problem admitting I'm hard to please so definitely keep that in mind. Overall it wasn't horrible but as usual full of a bunch of squandered opportunities. Here's hoping you enjoy it as much as nessisonett.

@zupertramp Apparently Joss Whedon just hated the character. Which is why he’s completely short-changed in the first two Avengers movies. In the comics he’s a wisecracking idiot who’s one of the most notorious bachelors since Mockingbird was dead for 20 odd years. The character in the MCU barely resembles that character. So as much as it’s definitely a shift from the movies to the TV show, it just fits the actual source material so much more. I’m not the biggest Whedon fan at all, especially looking back on his stuff recently so I am harsh on his stuff even if Avengers was a big deal at the time. Just a lot of plot points that came out of nowhere and added literally nothing. Case in point, Hulk and Black Widow.
@nessisonett not a Whedon fan either. Kinda don't get the hype honestly. And yeah that hulk/black widow thing was just not it.
So i guess it's good if they're steering Hawkeye's character back in a more traditional direction, just would have been nice if we could have done it more subtly.
Still think the whole family Christmas movie vibe was wrong for the characters they brought in but to each their own. Thought Alaqua Cox was great and Steinfeld grew on me so there's that.

@zupertramp just watched the first 5 eps, I woulda finished it if it were up to me but the missus is super anxious about delivering the ultimate Christmas experience tomorrow so we retired to bed. I liked it… love the chemistry between the two leads. I actually think it’s the best (most likeable at least) that I’ve ever seen Renner… and Steinfeld is always good. It’s definitely the most inexpensive production of the various D+ Marvel shows but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Thought that it was a perfect Christmas Eve watch tbh.
@nessisonett is that who Tony Dalton is? Lol bizarre. It's cool though I appreciate seeing him outside of Better Call Saul where he's phenomenal.

I'm definitely happy for anyone who enjoyed these D+ shows but having just recently seen No Way Home and Shang Chi I'm even more convinced the series based format is simply a weak spot for Marvel. Somehow that's a dissenting opinion but it is what it is I guess. I just didn't expect that just because they're Disney shows that they'd feel so much like Disney shows.
Oh well though... Now just looking forward to Ozark in January.

Just finished a binge of The Wheel of Time season 1… and as a big fan of the books… I’m pretty happy. It was never (never does) live up to the how the books jump-started my imagination but was about as loyal to the source as I could’ve envisioned. Can’t wait for season 2.
I can't say I quite enjoyed it as much as I did Castlevania personally (Though Arcane is obviously only 1 season so far and nowhere near finished) but it's definitely extremely well made, well voice acted, well told and I do think people should definitely give it a look see if they're even the least bit interested in it.
You don't need to know anything about League Of Legends (Though I'm sure some players will get a kick out of some references and the various characters being realised) to enjoy it either!

The missus and I just watched the first 4 eps of The Big Leap (the only eps up on D+ atm). It’s not something I’d ‘generally’ go for but I had a feeling that the missus would love it, which she did… surprise bonus that I loved it too 😄
Recently finished up Lupin the 3rd: Part 3, Lupin the 3rd: a Woman Called Fujiko Mine, & Hawkeye. Posted more in depth thoughts in the "Anime" & "Marvel" threads respectively.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
About half way through the first season of The Witcher... and I quite like it so far. Long enough has passed for me to forget about whatever reasons I had for not watching it initially.
I've never read any of the books, so I only have the second and third games to go off. I think they have got the tone about right. Each episode kinda feels like a quest from the game, with the story centred around Yenifer and Ceri (and later Yenifer's relationship with Geralt). I like humour, especially from the bard (called Dandelion in the games but something else here),

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@Jimmer-jammer yeah the jumping back and forth is hella confusing at times. I thought the same actress was playing two different characters at one point! 😂

I can’t believe they’ve finally confirmed Yaz crushing on the 13th Doctor. I’m not a fan of any kind of Doctor x companion deal because that’s one hell of a dodgy power dynamic but yeah, at least the very very obvious sexual tension is being acknowledged. Not any worse than Rose/Martha/Amy/Clara and the weird dynamics they had. The whole episode was actually one of the better Chibnall episodes. Very classic setup and generally decent character stuff. I do like Aisling Bea though.
I don’t know if she has a big tax bill that needs paying or something but she seems to have been everywhere on TV over Christmas, especially on channel 4.
@RogerRoger It’s kinda hard to say. I’ve always felt there were undertones there but I wasn’t sure if that was intentional or not. That last season there made it really quite obvious though, but still left enough plausible deniability to say they were ‘just very good friends’. Given she’s regenerating in two episodes time though, I worry that the ‘bury your gays’ trend will prove correct again and it’ll just cause more upset than if they hadn’t acknowledged it at all.
@Thrillho I was watching her season of Taskmaster on catchup a couple weeks ago so she was extra everywhere!
Just finished watching Arrow season 8 as well as Crisis on Infinite Earths, which I realised I really had to watch before wrapping up Arrow.
Man I just can't believe it. I started watching this show when I was in upper secondary school, almost a decade ago, and after school I would always discuss the recent episode with my friends who were also watching it. It was such a good show and I'm so glad that the final season was a great sendoff for Oliver Queen and the show as a whole. Because the whole season was pretty much a gift to the fans who have been watching the show throughout all these years. It was just so wholesome and I genuinely couldn't imagine a better sendoff than this.
Thank you Arrow for all these years of entertainment.
