@Jimmer-jammer Where are you in the albums list now? How are you finding them so far? I'll just chuck these three in as well: Bill Frisell - Silent Comedy (his only leftfield pure experimental album, since you enjoyed Late Junction so much) and two contemporary records both featuring Jeff Parker. Makaya McCraven - Universal Beings and Jeff Parker - Suite for Max Brown.
@Jimmer-jammer Wow cool. It's weird actually that was the last bit of the track so glad I threw the pitch down at the last second and then it kicks in again! Tell your kids they have heard an upcoming young* talented* producer who will make it* big one day.

@Gremio108 cheers Grem. Took a while but it was worth it in the end!
@RogerRoger thanks Rog. I may try to make a PushSquare tune next just for us all bro!
@Thrillho yes buddy, thanks. It got 239 upvotes and 3 awards! The video has 413 views and my mum hasn't even watched it yet! Small success but that has been my target over the last 6 months.

@Jimmer-jammer I will just advise a word of caution about Nashville by Frisell as that's quite a country-influenced jazz album, it's great, but if you don't like country you may not enjoy it. (I think I saw you say something with regard to country music on here once)
In other words - skip that album if you don't like country, and glad you are enjoying the rest of the list.
@TheBrandedSwordsman I actually enjoy a few songs from Load, it's a lot more entertaining than say St. Anger or their latest few which for some reason I just can't get into. As for Katatonia, Brave Murder Day is one of my favourites by them. Excellent atmosphere throughout. Shame Akerfeldt doesn't produce anything worthwhile anymore, but his contributions to both Katatonia and Bloodbath have been excellent. Don't eat the yellow snow!
@ShaiHulud Sound mini-review of Brave Murder Day, my friend, and I liked the Zappa reference, I don't have that one ,actually, I was playing One Size Fits All on my vinyl player. Do you like much Zappa then? I am a fan of his 70s albums in particular. You didn't rate the latest Opeth album then? Too much prog rock and not enough metal for you?
@TheBrandedSwordsman I'm actually not that familiar with Zappa to be honest, but that's the one song I do remember for obvious reasons! I listen to a lot of prog rock actually (quite enjoying the new Steven Wilson at the moment) so that's not the issue with the latest four Opeth albums (I also adore their acoustic album Damnation) - but they sound like a completely different band to my ears nowadays. Instead of the brilliantly structured unique progmetal records of before they're creating aimlessly fiddling copies of 70s progrock nowadays.
@ShaiHulud Then One Size Fits All is definitely for you, it's prog rock with a Zappa twist, if you listen to it then be sure to let me know what you think. Yeah, regarding Opeth, but, surely, if you like 70s prog rock it can't be a bad thing?

@ShaiHulud What's your opinion of Mastodon? Are they really the new Metallica as a lot of people believe? They are pretty much my favourite band, mainly for the guitar playing ,personality, charisma and southern charm of Brent Hinds.

@TheBrandedSwordsman I actually happened to discover them right back when they released their first full length. Absolutely cracking! I've been to some tiny venues when they were just starting out and almost got knocked on the head by a guitar one time. Also loved Leviathan and enjoyed Crack the Skye, but their recent output has left me a bit cold to be honest. I don't really enjoy the vocals of the chap who's now the main singer (is that Brent? the dude with the tattoo on his forehead), and they sound a bit too much of a conventional rockband now. Nothing wrong with that of course, but not really what I enjoy the most.
@ShaiHulud Yeah those first four records were solid gold, you were so lucky to see them on the Remission tour that it's unspeakable.Did you hear Emperor of Sand though? I wasn't too into it but it got great reviews and was more or less a return to their earlier sound. Also, Brent sings quite a lot on Crack the Skye, (he is the dude with the tattoo on his forehead) so, yeah, bit of a contradiction there perhaps? Also try Cold Dark Place if you liked Crack the Skye - it's not a million miles away from that record, written mostly if not completely by Brent, as Crack the Skye was.
@Jimmer-jammer Yeah it's really dense and intricate music isn't it?, I've greatly enjoyed my pre-lockdown times of playing jazz with other musicians in a casual, relaxed 'jam' setting at a London music venue. I'm glad you are enjoying the recommendations, as much as I did it seems, do you think you will go further and explore more jazz music now that I've given you a taste of it? Let me know what you think of Nashville, as I said before, there's a distinct 'country' vibe there! .With regard to my conversation with @ShaiHulud ,I don't think you're being at all rude by jumping in, and I will check out Sound Awake and Asymmetry and let you know what I think of them. I'm already familiar with Yes, as you suspected.
Edit: Really enjoying Karnivool (Asymmetry album) and I think you should both check out Sons Of Apollo if you're not already familiar with them, particularly their MMXX album for some excellent heavy prog music.
Also, Karnivool really remind me of Cave In on songs like The Refusal. @Jimmer-jammer are you a fan of Cave In as well?
@TheBrandedSwordsman So lately I’ve been listening to classic rock with some modern pop and rock mixed in like usual, but I’ve started to grow a little tired of my usual fare. So I have felt a mood to go back to even older classics, like the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Perhaps this is due to having recently watched The Umbrella Academy which has a great soundtrack, and also recently been playing Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy as my chill-out game to cleanse the gaming palate. So lately I enjoyed some things like The Monkees, The Righteous Brothers, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, Simon & Garfunkel, and Credence Clearwater Revival. I know it’s pretty random, but I just go with what suits me at the time.
I also have been interested in a cappella renditions lately. I’ve always loved great vocal harmonies. The Eagles “Seven Bridges Road” has always been a favorite. I’ve searched around for good a cappella harmonies but haven’t found any that I loved. Some of Pentatonix’s covers are good, but not all. Anyone have a cappella or quartet harmony groups or songs they can recommend?
