@FuriousMachine The entire The Death of Peace and Mind album is really good. Just Pretend and The Grey are two of my favourite songs on there. Miracle is great as well but the entire album is just brilliant!
@Kairuuu My impressions after having listened through their discography once is that, at first blush, it feels like there was a shift with "The Death of Peace and Mind". Their output prior to that is perfectly fine metalcore, but with "The Death..." and onward their music gets really interesting, in my opinion, and stands more out from the crowd. I may grow to enjoy their earlier efforts more on subsequent plays, but "The Death of Peace and Mind" and "Left for Good" will undoubtedly be favoured for now.
Thanks for sharing
@Metonymy Great riffs and singing in that one, man, thanks for sharing. I used to love the song they did where the refrain to the chorus is something like "BY GHO-oo-OooOOSTS, from BROKEN HO-OMES (HO-oo-OOMES)" Idk if you know the one I am referring to, very embarrassing if you don't. 🤣

@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN Yeah, totally! It’s called ‘This Could be Anywhere in the World.’ Dallas Green’s a very talented songwriter and his solo stuff, ‘City and Colour’ is worth checking out too.

@Metonymy Cool! Thanks for sharing. I'll just hit the ball back across the net one last time for now, in terms of our musical game of tennis, with this one from Bill Orcutt, the avant-blues guitarist, now playing in a straight-ahead rock power trio featuring the drummer of Sonic Youth. Definitely in your wheelhouse, I feel, man.

@Metonymy Alexisonfire are great. Their recent album is one of my favourites as it's much more of a Dallas album with a balance of the "clean" and "dirty" vocals more to my liking and lots of gratuitous guitar playing. The closing track is wonderfully excessive with the guitars!
@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN Definitely in my wheelhouse, that was cool, thanks!
@Thrillho Yeah, it’s not very often a band can reform after years and then go and put out an album that more than holds its own amongst an impressive discography!

@Metonymy Have you heard the new covers EP from alexisonfire? I can't say I know the originals as they're all Canadian 90s alt rock bands but it's good stuff!
01) Neighbourhood Villain (Doughboys)
02) Cuz (Shallow North Dakota)
03) Fully Completely (The Tragically Hip)
04) Misogyny (Rusty)
Puscifer - 'Grand Canyon' - Maynard James Keenan's solo project. He considered the project to be his 'creative subconscious', both audibly and visually moving.
@Oram77 ah, it must be broken then, because I can bet you a shiny dollar that my tastes are far more varied than yours 😛 either way it seems like they overestimated what a different genre actually is, because it seems like there can't be that many!?
You must listen to a lot of new releases? I guess? Mine sent me a zimmer frame for listening to 60's,70's,80's,90's, naughties, and none of that awful 2020's muck 🧙♂️ what's that laddie? I'll get me hearing aid.
When it seems you're out of luck.

@Ravix@Oram77 283 genres for me, which is a surprising amount. Less surprising is that "Gothic Metal" was the top genre... Listening age 27. 8119 songs, and having Lacuna Coil on all top 5 songs listened to was no big surprise, either. One of my absolute favourites, released a great new album this year, so it got a lot of play. 594 albums, Lacuna Coil's new album "Sleepless Empire" most listened to. 811 different artists, Amarok most listened to (surprised that wasn't also Lacuna Coil, but Amarok was a new discovery early in the year, so not very surprising).
I love stats and I love music, so Spotify Wrapped is always fun
@Thrillho Yeah, it’s really great! My favourite cover here is probably ‘Misogyny’, even though The Hip is one of my favourite bands. Admittedly, I’ve never heard of ‘Shallow North Dakota’ but the cover of ‘Cuz’ is good! It says Volume 1 so presumably there will be a sequel?
There’s a documentary about ‘The Tragically Hip’ called ‘No Dress Rehearsal’ that is well worth watching. The Hip are, for my money, the greatest musical representation of what it means to be Canadian and a clear window into what Canadian music is all about. Still can’t believe Gord’s gone but his legacy is set in stone.
Edit: You’ve mentioned enjoying guitars, this might be a better one 😄
@GirlVersusGame I quite like ‘Tool’ and ‘A Perfect Circle’ but have only dabbled in ‘Puscifer’ who apparently have a new album coming out in the new year. This was a really nice video 😄

@Metonymy A Perfect Circle are hard not to like, I found Puscifer through the Underworld soundtrack, before that I'd never seen them/him around. It might be the name too, it wasn't exactly something I'd Google. I don't think I used Spotify this year but now I'm curious.
