Well, my set up for showing certain titles may be a little like this 🤔:
Care to join the party? 😁
You're starting to sound like my emails, which seem to be similarly geared towards me having to buy Tombstone right the f*** now 😅Those 4k retailers are an insistent bunch. But, even though the steelbook looks pretty nice, I think I will leave westerns for a different 4k splurge at some other time, and the standard regular boxes should do for those... should do.
All this talk of limited editions and steelbooks, and so I was browsing online.
Pre-ordered a steelbook copy of Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning.
Releasing 19th October.
Currently watching John Milius’ Conan the Barbarian (1982). I am thinking that is another movie that deserves a decent 4k release.
@Ravix Well, I'm a glutton for punishment, so I will see it. The context you provided is more or less in line with what I was expecting, so maybe I will be one of the few that likes it. Stranger things have happened...
@Ravix I only have Tombstone and the more recent 3:10 to Yuma on 4K. I wouldn't mind getting any of the classic Clint Eastwood that not long come out on 4K.

@JohnnyShoulder sounds like you need to up your western game, then 😛 like I think I mentioned earlier, Arrow are doing the Dollars trilogy soon, so I can encourage you to make that your next purchase if you like? Haha. But i'm going to steer clear of westerns myself for now. Although, saying that, I grabbed Slow West cheap on Blu Ray for the reason of pushing me over to free delivery on an order, so 🤷♂️ I remember liking it as a modern western, but with Slow being the operative word in the title. So it has served a purpose and will get watched at some point.
I finally finished The Tale of Zatoichi and it has greatly enhanced my playthrough of ELDEN RING, there are only a few skirmishes/battles throughout the film, and I feel like it is balanced perfectly, as some things are only more effective with contrast, and the action is heightened by the anticipation. I'd definitely rank it as among my favourite films of all time, and I am greatly looking forward to continuing my watchthrough of the Box Set.

@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN Love to hear that it was to your liking As a curio, I recommend checking out Takeshi Kitano's version from 2003, if you can. It isn't quite as good as the original, in my opinion, but it is quite entertaining in its own right. Worth noting that I am huge fan of Kitano's work in general, so I may be a bit biased, but I seem to remember it was well received when it came out (though it did take a drubbing for the use of CGI blood).
@FuriousMachine Thanks for the recommendation, I still have a very long list of movies to get through, like you with books, but thanks for letting me know about a movie I was previously unfamiliar with. What's next on your to-watch list?

@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN I don't really have a watchlist for movies. As it is only a two hour (-ish) commitment, I typically choose according to mood when I feel like watching a movie. I'm seeing Weapons on the big screen on Sunday, but I may pop open one of my many unwatched 4K discs before then (Dark City is high on that list).
Anyone like Dune (1984) and this version of the 4k Steelbook?
Amazon Italy is all I'll say. Just happened across it and thought it might interest some people here who may partake this one isn't for me, as it would be a blind buy, having never seen Dune for some reason, but I think it looks absolutely beautiful, all the same.
@Ravix nope. the only steelbook that i have for a movie is the one for Army of Darkness where i bought it for just 19.99 from the walmart store months ago.
steelbooks for movies for blu ray its a fad. its annoying. like those Superbit DVDs and HD DVD stuff that got relased for a few movies like Raimi's Spider-Man and Face Off
@FuriousMachine Out of curiosity, are you a fan of any of Lynch's other work? I quite liked Mullholland Drive, Twin Peaks (The first two seasons) and especially Lost Highway oh, and Inland Empire deserves an honorable mention as well. I really loved the cinematography in that film. And don't forget his peak work with Blue Velvet , of course, now that is a film that everyone deserves to see.
Watched a bit more of The Tale of Zatoichi Continues this morning as well, love that film so far.

I am also a huge fan of Dune. I thought that Lynch’s version was good - at the time, but now it pales in comparison to Denis Villeneuve’s recent efforts. However, good as those two new movies are, they are still not faithful to Herbert’s original novel.
But I enjoy those new films more than Lynch’s Dune, and will be very interested to see how Denis Villeneuve tackles Dune Messiah.
Actually I think that the best version of Dune was the three-part series made for the Sci-Fi channel, some time ago. The special effects were obviously early CGI, but the story was actually very faithful to the book.
I enjoyed several of David Lynch’s movies (Eraserhead, Wild at Heart, Blue Velvet), but I felt that some of his stuff was far too weird - almost just for the sake of being weird.
I was very sorry to hear that David Lynch passed away, recently.
@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN@Matthewnh I'm a huge fan of David Lynch, Twin Peaks is probably my favourite TV show of all time (along with X-Files) and I loved the bonkers third season, too. Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me,Lost Highway and Mulholland Dr. are all fantastic experiences. Weird, yes, but definitely my kind of weird. I haven't seen Wild at Heart since the 90s, so I don't remember much from it (definitely due for a revisit). I haven't seen Inland Empire, Eraserhead or, to my burning shame, Blue Velvet, all of which I'm planning to watch at some time in the (hopefully near) future.
I'm also a fan of the first Dune novels (I lost interested after "Heretics..." and I felt "Messiah" was nothing but tell, not show... nothing happened other than people talking about everything that happened, a device that did not work for me) and I love the Villeneuve movies. I haven't seen the TV show, but I hear many say it is very faithful to the books. I'm also curious about how Villeneuve handles "Messiah", but seeing where he took Paul in the movies, it seems all but certain that he will nail at least that character's journey (a lot of people don't seem to realise that Paul becomes a villain, for some reason... so much so that Villeneuve felt the need to make it very clear at the end of Dune: Part 2, to good effect, in my opinion)
@FuriousMachine I didn't actually go for the Dune one, was just alerting people to its existence because it is a stunner, and, as I suspected, varying in popularity. I'm not sure i'm ready for full on Lynch Sci-Fi at this moment in life, but who knows 😅
Glad it sparked a mini David Lynch discussion though. I'm rather rusty in the matter, but I know for certain Mulholland Drive and Wild At Heart are two that i'm going to pick up pretty soon, as they are on the high priority list. Unfortunately Wild at Heart is like the problem child and is only available on an iffy blu ray at the moment, I don't know if a 4k is in the works anywhere, but i'd love to see it.
Mulholland is a film I know I love, and yet it has been long enough to have forgotten why, which is the perfect combination for a rewatch.
I've somehow managed to never see Twin Peaks (wrong generation, bad excuse I know, considering I will watch anything from any era) but I've always been aware I like things influenced by it, and it is probably an open goal for me enjoying that too.
@JohnnyShoulder I mean... It would be cheaper to gouge my eyes out instead of enjoying the visual world, so maybe it was a fair point 😅 hmm, now that I think about it.. I'll get the spoon
When it seems you're out of luck.

@Ravix That Dune steelbook is a looker fo sho, I didn't like the film that much though. I tend to save steelbooks for the films that are special to me and only have a handfull. I do have my eye on steelbooks for The Hurt Locker, Trainspotting, Enter the Dragon and Seven. I don't actually think the artwork on some of those are anything special, but would still like to add to my colection none the less.
