@RogueCooper@Jimmer-jammer@Thrillho only just stumbled on this dad-chat… and it made me think of a reply I added earlier today to a group chat old Coop is actually part of:
“Not having kids is maybe the best decision I ever made… I’ve even disowned the step-daughter!” 🤣
I was reading the Life & Arts Section of the FT Weekend Paper in a bar this afternoon with a glass of wine and enjoying the British summer after going to a jazz gig ,earlier in the afternoon. Definitely feel like it was a good choice to transition from Literature to Newspapers and Magazines, and I haven't changed my mind so far. Now chilling out, listening to hip hop.
@Th3solution Something just occurred to me about my upcoming playthrough of the Elden Ring DLC (If I can get through the rest of Sekiro and play all the way through Nine Sols first, of course - made some progress in Sekiro against the final boss now, just finalising my strategy)
So I thought I'd mention you and get your thoughts, as we've hard quite a few FromSoftian bonfire-side chats over the years.
But, yeah, it ocurred to me that due to the fact that some describe the DLC as being the experience they initially wanted from ER ,and comparing it to FromSoft's previous output (i.e it's basically 'Big Dark Souls') plus doing it with a Sekiro build,
It ocurred to me that I'll essentially be playing three games in one (Sekiro, Dark Souls and Elden Ring) and therefore it should be one of the best gaming experiences of my lifetime! Can't wait! .
I feel like I have acquired a new sound, the sound I had been looking for all along, on the electric guitar. I feel like this has been an ego boost, now that I have attained the ability and style for soloing that I had been looking for, from a psychological perspective. It has taken a long time, and slow but steady progress, but I would definitely encourage everyone to pursue their dreams, if you can achieve just one of them, no matter how small, it's worth it.
@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN Sounds really awesome. I look forward to hearing more of your FromSoftian adventures. I’ll be curious what your final rankings will be of everything after you’ve completed it all.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
After beating my last game (details can be found in the Games you've recently beat, in the Retro and other Gaming section of the website.) I am going to take a break before endeavouring to tackle Nine Sols during which time I will be diving into reading, finishing off watching Scorsese's The Irishman and delving into my Zatoichi Criterion Collection Box Set.
@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN I'm less into sword fighting than you. Got nothing against it, but it's also not a reason for me to pick it up. So I'll await the reviews!
Gameplay wise the game looks fun, but it doesn't really ooze personality so far. (I have that same problem with Nioh and the latest Assassin's Creed. ) I need a game to stand out a bit from the crowd!
Anyone seen the game Ready or Not ?
PlayStation Access have just posted a coop video on it. The devs state that they have seen the gap in the market left by Rainbow Six Vegas and have decided to fill it.
Looks very Rainbow six Vegas like (without the glamour) which pleases me, hopefully there is Terrorist Hunt. A did see a few bugs so I think it needs a bit more polish but one to keep an eye on.
Drifting away from guitar somewhat now and focusing more on what the essence of a Black Swordsman is in gaming terms. Admittedly, aside from Yasuke in Assassin's Creed Shadows there's not much representation, but, hey I'm still the one playing the games as a BAME individual, with mixed Afro-Caribbean/European roots, and I'm playing as a swordsman in the games, so, hey, it still works, plus there's the other level to it, with it being Guts from Berserk's moniker as well.
Anyway, that's all besides the point. I just started Nine Sols today and am loving it, also reading Lone Wolf and Cub, the Manga, and will soon be watching my Zatoichi BoxSet. Feel fully immersed in Eastern Swordsmanship. It feels great.
@Th3solution Morning, Sol. Just a quick word. I noticed you seemed to be a bit distracted for want of a better word in terms of your recent posts on here. Is everything alright? Am I completely off? Something going on at work or something? Too many games to play in terms of having too many options? Hope everything is ok anyway, and remember we are all here for you in here, as much as we can be within the context of the forum. 😃
@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN Hey buddy, thanks for the outreach and inquiry. All is well, although certainly it’s true that I’ve got my share of distractions, both good ones and bad. Gaming has been very enjoyable, but I do run short on time. So many competing interests and demands exist and although having options is a good thing, I’m not sure how well I (and society at large, to be honest) are going to be able to process and digest the ever increasing demands on our time and attention.
But otherwise things are completely fine! Thanks for the concern though. How about you? How are things on your end?
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
@Th3solution No problem, Sol. It's true ,we're living in an age of digital mass consumption that can be a drain on the individual's time and energy. Definitely a case to be made for rationing screen time and doing something like going for a walk or getting back to nature somehow.
But good to hear that you're doing okay. 👍
I have been ok thanks, just working on my build for the ELDEN RING DLC and reading Charles Dickens, playing guitar and listening to music for the most part. Also watched a bit of the samurai movie Shogun Assassin, which has been quite enjoyable
I think this is an important album and also a talking point, hence placing it here, a collaboration between an innocent man, who has been serving time in solitary confinement, on death row, for the best part of thirty years, and an ensemble of improvising jazz musicians. Live from Death Row.
@Th3solution Hey man, how are you? Did you complete Baldur's Gate yet? If not, how is it going and what stage are you at with it now, and if so, what are you playing now and how is that going?
I am still farming souls with my Sekiro build in Elden Ring in preparation for the DLC, it's a long slog, but I feel it will be worth it. Enhanced by my appreciation of Japanese Cinema such as Shogun Assassin and Tale of Zatoicihi which I am currently watching, and am sharing my thoughts about over in The Movie Thread, both Japanese Samurai movies. Seen any good movies lately yourself?
