@Thrillho fair play, that's always the trouble with having lots of alcohol at once. Spirits and unopened wine last forever but beers do go off. I've done a fair few "smugglers runs" or domestic "booze cruises" to the west country over the last few years to get some local beers (not only for that reason but I usually ensure I come back with a trolly full when I do visit to see friends).
This means I normally have a cupboard full and I think what I have left will expire in 2023 so 🤷♂️. That always kind of puts pressure on me to drink them up but I can't have more than a case of 12 left at the moment so I'm not as fussed if they go to waste or if I give them to a friend.
I think having one or two beers is kind of worse for me sometimes. It has the depressing effect but I don't get drunk enough to move past that bit. I know there is a week long follow up feeling both from just a couple drinks and also a heavy night but that always seems to be more random. Either I feel it really heavily or I'm just in so much physical pain that I can't focus on the mental part. Or I just know what's going on so I try to stay positive.
Either way, all too much for me right now!
Will probably buy a few boxes of Punk AF at some point. It's just annoying that alcohol free is just as expensive as real beer 🤦♂️
I also think the beers I do buy from Cornwall (Mena Dhu and Proper Black) are not amazingly popular so I do worry sometimes that if it weren't for me buying 30 bottles of each twice a year that they might actually stop making them 😂
@MatthewJP oh really, cheers for the tip - I'll have to check it out.
I haven't tried a huge amount of them but I find punk af to be not too bad. A lot of the others I've tried have been lagers (Becks blue, grolsh 0, Heineken 0 etc) and I have not liked them that much. But then again, I don't like alcoholic lager (particularly those brands) so I am not amazingly surprised lol.
I've tried that Guinness 0 which again is ok, but I've never felt compelled to drink it. I still have a couple cans in the fridge from last year
@ralphdibny I’ve never actually seen any of the St Austell beers you mention on sale anywhere. Punk AF is the best ones for me too; most of the rest just taste a bit flat.
@Elodin I can’t remember when I last preordered a game and I rarely even buy a game in the first few months as most big games have patches galore in the first weeks and prices plummet so quickly.
The only games I’ve bought in the early days over the last few years were The Division 2 (to get the most out of online), RDR2 (Rockstar games normally launch finished), FF7R (I had a week off at its launch), and Elden Ring (I knew I’d never be able to play this after the baby was born!).
Most preorder bonuses are just rubbish cosmetics which don’t interest me at all.
@Thrillho they seem to be rare even in Cornwall tbh. There's only one Tesco I know of that sells both if they have them in stock, the brewery obviously sells both as well as others. But other asdas, lidls, tescos etc might have none, some or a combination of both.
Proper Job, their IPA, is sold nationwide though. I can buy that in my local Tesco. I even saw it on tap (even though they'd run out 😅) in a pub in London a couple months ago. Not that I've looked but I doubt they sell their lager Korev nationwide, probably too much competition.
@MightyDemon82
Some of my PS3 games are movie tie in games such as Hannah Montana, Up, Bolt, Surf's Up, Megamind, The Golden Compass, Kung Fu Panda, Rango, TinTin Adventures, Toy Story 3, G-Force, etc.
Well, I just curious of their gameplay.
I knew their games are sometimes hit or miss, it doesn't really matter for me as long I can finish the games.
Just now I tried the PS3 games above, it was pretty quick to adapt the gameplay from those games.
Megamind was like standard side scrolling action games.
Kung Fu Panda was like 3D action platformer games.
Surf's Up was like standard surfing or skateboard games with emphasizes on making high scores from doing the tricks in the air.
The Golden Compass was like linear adventure games with commands to trigger.
They are decent enough to entertain me.
I will try to finish my purchased PS3 games which is the easiest and the fastest to finish first since I still have hype with Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town PS4.
The PS4 games I bought took very long time to update despite the GB size of the updates are not so big since my PS4 machine location was quite far away from internet Wi-Fi.
I cannot play my PS5 games yet since I don't have the machine but I will keep them safe for future investment when I able to buy PS5 machine someday.
Actually, I knew about The Golden Compass from a kids book inside my school library with actual screenshots from the movie for the pictures. The book was like this.
I have never had any interest with The Golden Compass before nor even read that book entirely but I knew it was an old movie back to early PS3 era in 2006 - 2007.
But I dared myself to play odd games from franchises that I have never had interest before, as long they are still for the kids, i just follow what will gonna happen from the games.
My first impression about the game was the voice acting of Lyre was really very British accent. Used to hear American accent dubbing so it was a new experience. The battle system from the armored bear was pretty standard action games. It was about exploration with some specific commands to trigger the events.
Well, games like this oftenly have locked camera angle so I wasn't surprised.
I was reading the walkthrough of Story of Seasons : Pioneers of Olive Town about Spirit Quest that occurred after finishing the main storyline.
There are a lot of Spirit Request after post game that really really required tons of items to finish the request. It was like I have to working my butt off to get the requirement items with the amount of quantity given and those numbers are ridiculous a lot. 😱🥴
I still have to postpone my wedding before my house get upgraded to final expansion and at least I have obtained all the four seasons islands because I have 3 bachelors to be my husband and I want to experience with different husbands so I have to provide another 3 save slots for each husband as I married with specific husband, I will continue the game with different fate and to play with other husband that have different progress of my Spirit Request, it will be very painful to redo the unfinished Spirit Request when I played with different save files.
One save file might be have better progress than the other save files as I don't want to working my butt off for the same unfinished Spirit Request on different save files.
If I have to finish all the Spirit Request, it will take very very long time to finish, might be take 3 years to finish all the Spirit Request and when I can get married if I have to postpone the marriage for 3 years. 😵
Well, at least I will keep the first save file data with condition before married, just in case if something wrong happened.
My first priority is marrying Ralph as I like his masculine looking as a forest ranger with baseball cap.
My second priority is marrying Emilio as I like his spiky short hair with beach boy looking and medium skin. He looks sexy with that looking.
My third priority is marrying Jack (I prefer called him Raymond as Jack name was similar as Jack / Raymond name in ACNH) as he has cute looking face with blonde hair.
I have fourth priority, he is Damon but I don't really like his facial shape and his body was skinny with punk biker outfits.
Not sure if I want to expand the hunt of other husbands from the DLC.
@nessisonett
The Golden Compass has the video games (PS2, PS3, Wii, XBOX 360, PSP, NDS), the movie and the kids book so I believe the contents inside are still tolerable enough for kids to digest.
The book version by Scholastic (screenshot above) was available in my school library.
His Dark Materials novels are suitable for children aged 11+, some suggest 9+. I'm not so sure, it really depends on the maturity of the child. They are excellent books though, I highly recommend them. Absolutely can get a lot out of the as an adult as well, definitely not just for the younger reader.
Today is 3rd anniversary of my PS3 Slim purchase day on 29 December 2019. 😊
And to celebrate the anniversary, I bought PS3 Move set after 3 years I have been waiting patiently to find the right time to buy PS3 Move.
I tried my purchased PS3 games with Move requirement right after I bought the PS3 Move set. Some games I still struggle to follow the instruction due to first time using Move. My biggest impression so far was from Kung Fu Riders and Racket Sports. Eyepet was really tedious to listen all the narator said in order to able to proceed the next commands. Since I bought the PS3 Move controllers with low battery condition, I have to charge them while I played PS3. Next time I will charge all the PS3 Move controllers onto PS3 machine while I'm playing normal PS3 games.
Just a random question/musing that I know we’ve touched on before, but how many of you multitask during gaming? The question is prompted by @Fight_Teza_Fight remarking that they sometimes have a TV show on in the background while playing video games. I’m not sure I’ve heard of that practice before (this isn’t a judgement by the way — actually more of an expression of sincere admiration that you can do that), but I hear a lot of people will listen to podcasts or their own music while gaming.
I guess I’m maybe an outlier because I just can’t do two things at once like that. I don’t ever have anything else going on in the background while I’m playing. The most I could say is that I might have the washer going and be doing some chores simultaneously when I can pause the game, put them in the dryer, then come back — you know, something like that. But I have to pause the game. (Insert grumpy comment about FromSoft games not having a pause function…)
As an aside, this doesn’t just apply to gaming either. I sometimes try to engage in other things while watching TV — like reviewing some paperwork, surfing the internet, folding laundry (sheesh… lots of laundry stuff today), and I find one of the two activities suffer. Either I lose what’s going on in the show and end up not enjoying it, or I do a poor job at whatever else I’m trying to accomplish.
