@mookysam Nor me, but I don't really know who he is or get the general fawning over celebrities either. I feel no connection to these people whatesover, and I don't really want to.

I don't know much about Musk, I know he's known to not be a nice person but I always think it's cool when a billionaire uses their fortune to move the world forward in some positive way rather than sitting on it like Scrooge until the day they die.
To have that sort of fortune to potentially inspire massive change and to do nothing with it is mind boggling to me, so many wasted opportunities to help the world.

Also, I totally agree with celebrity worship being weird and quite concerning. I feel it's taken us to a really problematic place, where our world leaders are being voted for, not due to their abilities, competence and integrity but because we recognise them and they said something funny on tv a couple of times.

At least Kim K is giving loads back with the Justice Project and stuff. I mean, actually training to be a lawyer takes more effort than most celebs end up doing. I think there are far worse wastes of space but everyone always jumps on Kim. Poor Kim.

@LieutenantFatman The Justice Project is an initiative aimed at holding lawmakers to account, worldwide. Kim Kardashian is focusing on the US prison system which is run for-profit, a conflict of interest I can’t fully comprehend. She’s training to be a lawyer so she can help those that have been in prison for years without a fair or proper trial, mostly people of colour. I guess you could say it’ll give her attention but at the same time, you can’t really take away from actual good work she’s doing regardless of motivation and she does genuinely seem to care.

@kyleforrester87 I know, she’s obviously not the second coming or anything but I do feel she’s somewhat unfairly judged especially when you compare her to y’know, her sisters and that god-awful mother.

@nessisonett I don't know much about Kim Kardashian and have never watched her family's programme, but can certainly respect her if that is the aim of her project. The US justice system is institutionally racist and there is so much hatred in the world. Given her sizeable clout as an influencer/reality celeb perhaps it will educate and perhaps even inspire people to get involved with charities.

Beast? How dare you.

@mookysam strangely I have read up on dark money in the USA and how they have been pursuing the justice system over a slow game, which has now moved into voting manipulation and voter suppression.

Been playing a lot of chess recently, since playing the absolutely nails battle vs chess on ps now. Didn't think I would rediscover a hobby this LockDown, bonus!

@LieutenantFatman I've got a chess game on ps4. I'm not amazing or anything. Been told I need more hours and go in on obvious attacks too often. I'm pretty good at solving chess puzzles though, even the hard ones on the battle vs chess game.

@themcnoisy Chess is the daddy of 'git gud' games. I've got a small wooden foldable chess table and pieces. Used to take it round relatives house when visiting and play my cousins and stuff. Not played the game for years though.

@JohnnyShoulder Have you tried Battle vs Chess? It's on ps now under the Ps3 games. Quite possibly the best chess game I have played due to the content like puzzles and idiosyncratic rule sets for the campaigns. It's really good. I've hit a level I can't pass but will keep going for sure.

Pretty awesome to see the SpaceX launch earlier and it still amazes me that they can land the rocket like that.

Saw the ISS again this evening but didn’t see Dragon pass by.

Lots of WILD videos coming out right now.

A husband and wife getting savagely beaten in New York while trying to defend their small business from looters.

Police marching down the streets in Minneapolis, shooting non-lethal rounds at people standing in the doorways of their homes.

Even in Nashville, not too far from where I live, rioters were trying to set fire to a historic courthouse.

The United States is falling apart, lol. I guess this is what happens when ideological tensions, greed, inequality, racism, corruption, and ineptitude become the accepted norm.

And the virus is EVERYWHERE here. I wonder how much all these mass protests are spreading it?

@Thrillho Yeah, my family and I watched it live via Youtube. Very cool landmark event.

@Ralizah I wonder how this could happen when the country is ruled by such an exquisite and competent president!

Praise the Sun, and Mario too.

Even as an outsider looking in, it’s not hard to see why the protests have turned violent, if they hadn’t then this would just have been swept under the carpet once again. That being said, if anything can be learned from the rivers of blood shed by African Americans and also Native Americans throughout history, it’s that violence against militant and institutionalised racism is rarely won.

It'll be interesting to see if cases spike in June, since Americans seem to think that gathering in large groups is a good idea in the middle of a particularly bad pandemic.

@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy @RogerRoger I live in a small, rural community, so I'm not really expecting to see violence. Thankfully, I think the actual body count from all this hasn't been terribly high. I can't imagine being one of these small business owners whose building was torched by protesters, though.

@nessisonett Yeah, this sort of unproductive violence only ever backfires. This is going to lead to MORE police brutality, and probably less freedom for protesters in general. And probably more consolidation of power by conservatives who will use this to stoke racial anger among whites in this country.

Granted, the problem is that police brutality, like almost every other problem in this country, can be traced back to the deeply corrupt way our political system is set up. It's hard to solve a problem when the rot goes all the way back to the root.
