I've only just come on the site today and saw what happened @Kidfried 😦
She's absolutely beautiful and I'm so sorry for your loss.
I've actually been dealing with another friend the past week having lost one of her dogs too. It's a shame all I can offer is heartfelt words over the net.
Like Johnny says she was undoubted well loved by yourself. Keep strong kidfried I know how tough losing a pet can be.
@Kidfried Greyhounds are awesome. They get a bum rap because of greyhound racing, but they're packed with personality, and can be real friendly and loyal. My brother looked after a rescue greyhound for a while, and he was freakin' adorable. Thanks for sharing that picture and yeah, know that your feelings will only become more manageable going forward, not less. Hope this finds you well.

@RogerRoger They are very underrated! Mine was a rescued from Spain, a country where the dogs have hardly no rights at all. She was already 9 and probably had a very difficult life until she moved here.
I can recommend a greyhound/whippet/galgo regardless of the dog's age, to anyone. You're doing the dogs a huge favour by preventing they end up in a slaughtering station or worse, but also yourself. My parents really hated dogs, but they fell in love when they met her. She was kind, humble and strived to live in harmony with those around her. She never barked loudly, even when we put her in the shower, which she hated. When kids would pet her too rough, or pull her tail, she would just slowly walk towards me instead of lashing out or anything.
And there were just so much sweet things about her. Like how she would run in circles on the rug when I came into the room with a snack or a toy, or how she would lean on my legs (like cats are used to do) to show affection, or how she'd be perfectly happy all day sleeping on the bench in the sun in my backyard.
Obviously, I can go on and on, and it's not hard not to, when I think about her all the time now. But like you said, it will become more manageable from here on out. I keep telling myself that at some point life will feel normal again, it'll become true again at some point!
(Sorry for this post, don't mean to ruin the mood of this topic. Hope to see some more pet photos, because they cheer me right up!)
@Kidfried Yeah, you're describing the exact experience my brother had (no aggressive barking, that lanky and chaotic over-excitedness, etc.) and they're apparently traits common to the breed, but accentuated in rescue cases. Racing greyhounds are not treated well, at all, so you did a very good thing when you adopted yours. I know it still stings, and I'm sorry if this hits a little hard, but trust me when I say that you'll come to take great comfort in the fact that you were able to give her life a happy ending.
Being back in this topic made me dig out a photograph taken a couple months ago, of the hedgehog house in my partner's back yard. Not really a pet, but close enough!

@Kidfried He was a stray a friend of ours found 6 years ago. She tried to find an owner but couldn’t and she was just about to move to Portugal herself, so we kept him. A vet estimated him to be ~3 y.o. at the time, which would make him 9-ish now. He’s a big boi.
@Kidfried I'm really sorry for your loss and know how difficult it is to lose a pet. You gave her love and happiness, and that means a lot to a rescue animal. She was very lucky to have been with you.
@Voltan Looking at that new shot, and then back at the shot from earlier in the week, it's almost like you've frozen him in a Photo Mode and captured multiple angles of the same pose!

@JohnnyShoulder Haha, cute cat. I love its expression. 😂 My cat used to love sitting in front of my TV, and would keep pawing the screen while I was trying to game. His favourite game to do that with was Halo 3, which was a little strange! One of my mum's cats does the same for attention, and just glares at us while knocking things off the shelf.
I believe I might have told somewhere here on the forums that my dear dog died a few months ago. Anyway, as a result I got lonely real, real fast, so I had to get a dog again.
