@Th3solution I believe it was marketing (and corporate espionage) and oh yes I never doubted the power of Pretendo for even a moment (sorry I'm a little out of the loop, chatchat has been very active) I'll read the before postings tomorrow, I think I typed for hours again, multiple people, multiple conversations, some weird (not the people) some not, I even saw Nueromancer appear in the Movie Thread (really)

Oh, great. I go from sitting back and relaxing while you three duke it out, to a simultaneous pair of Pretendo games ganging up on me! That hardly seems fair! Where's the ref...?!

Although I did like the part where you called me "darling", darling.

@Werehog 😂 Looking back at my post it can be read a couple different ways with my vague use of one comma there. All interpretations apply! Especially if you read it in your mind to the voice of Zsa Zsa Gabor.

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”

Werehog

@Th3solution My brain being British, it went to a sitcom called Blackadder Goes Forth where one of the characters was intentionally named "Captain Darling" so as to create situations where, whenever his fellow military officers referred to him by name, they would get a good laugh.

But yes, Zsa Zsa Gabor is an equally valid option, if not moreso!

"If I let not knowing anything stop me from doing something, I'd never do everything!"

@Ravix @Th3solution @Tjuz I take it y'all saw the Zelda news, yes...? It's okay. I don't mind accepting my prize early. Thanks for playing, though!

@Werehog speaking of retreating into the fog 😬

I bloody knew Wolverine would get torn to shreds as PS walz from one massive L to another. I should have changed it up, but the other two non-dated games kind of limited my moves on the chessboard that is fantasy critic.

I mean, I think about two or three weeks ago I started to think "this isn't the game i'd imagined it would be in my head" (it now seemed to be the very standard X-Men coded side of things" and I stopped caring about getting it day-one, but wow, it can't be that average, can it? Considering Spider-Man gets inflated 90s and Insomniac is the darling of Sony. I was sure they could make a game with a bit of genuine grit this time and at least get high 80s for Marvel but with gore, whiskey, ptsd and some man-emotions like self-loathing 💀 maybe there is some review fatigue on top of Sony being public enemy number one, but maybe it is just a game that has been designed by committee.

@Tjuz @Th3solution did anyone have it being my lowest scoring game, by the way?(Assuming the others get released)

Also, Link! Please leave GTA 6 alone. Let my brand new, original and ethical games exist in peace with your silly remakes and fan service and being on Nintendo which people don't hate at the moment (are they not currently suing some guide-dog puppies for barking in a way that sounds a bit like the catchphrase of that quite clearly racist italian-american stereotype?)

also, @Tjuz we'd better keep the word-count down here in case Kyle is randomly reading the thread. Wouldn't want them getting lost 🙃

@Ravix Welcome back, I thought you'd fallen ill too, did Dawnwalker steal your time away? I've been trying to make progress in Crimson Desert, but you were right it's huge, not bad huge, just there's a lot to see and to do. I'm focused on the Faction quests at the moment for the camp, but I'm sick too so it slowed down. I've been in bed all night talking to Tjuz. It's like a sleepover there are four of us in chat. I still want to try a Crimson Desert write-up, but it's impossible to know where to start because it's impossible to know if I've seen enough of the game to try to be fair and yet critical at the same time. I've never seen one game introduce so many new mechanics per-quest, there was even a bird feeder, I can't get it to work but it's a thing.

@GirlVersusGame haha, thanks for the welcome back. I'm no iller than usual and, if anything, i'm more relaxed having not been online. Nothing much changed, irl things and stuff changed a little, but when I have been gaming i've enjoyed it more, too, but maybe that is because Dawnwalker is made by devs that 'get it'. It is hard to tell the reason, but all the things have correlated (good game, a relaxed ravix and not being online) 😄 I did jot some notes down to kind of describe my time with dawnwalker, so far (still very early on in the main story) but never came on to post them, I don't think anyone is even talking about that game on the forum? But if you like the Witcher there's a good chance you will get these good vibes within about 30 mins of playing it so i'd recommend it to any fellow Witcher people 🙂

Yeah, Crimson Desert be like that 😅 everything is a feature, even things you don't need or never even thought could be a feature are a feature. I will read through the Crimson Desert page again at some point to see how you are doing in it, but please don't feel pressured to have to make a big write'up or review, just enjoy the time spent in it, and if the write-up happens naturally, so be it 😄

I would also like to say take care of yourself. A few times before last week I was going to say such to you and another person here, but i'm a big chicken and often sit on my positive words because I just think its none of my business and people don't need my input. But as a big silly emotional sponge I have felt that maybe things had been getting overwhelming on here for you, with a lot of deep discussions and topics and maybe it was upping your stress levels. And that was even before Kyle piped-up being a hat-of-posterior-placement (a** hat). At that stage I was going to go full-bear, but @Tjuz already said everything that needed to be said, like it is so simple for a user to just scroll past a post they have no interest in (or, as you pointed out, they can simply press the ignore button and problem solved for them) and literally they are choosing to read a long comment they aren't interested in or even tagged in, just to complain that they had a hard time reading that very comment? That is literally insane. I was already in the middle of noping out of online by then, and was browsing the chat thread while logged-out but the lack of logic displayed from the complainer definitely helped me think I was right to do so, because I could have logged-in and gone scorched-earth and made it worse, but I didn't. I'd suggest just blocking them if they can't just ignore you, though, and be done with it that way.

And seriously... take care of yourself. Stress is bad for the physical body as well as mental health, and, if you can, choose only activities that reward your body and mind 🤲

Also, I see you trying to make me jealous 😛 why isn't @Tjuz inviting me to his sleepovers? 😭😭 I need cuddles to reassure me that picking my guaranteed 90 Insomniac game for fantasy league was not my own poor foresight, but proof I am being let down by fatigued and upset reviewers giving it 6/10s because of a targetted smear campaign (that I did see coming a mile off) Surely that can't be so for an Insomniac game, though... a 6?! I never thought it would be that much if a drop, as I thought a 7 or 8 would be on the low side for their games 🙃

@GirlVersusGame I was just being silly about the Wolverine scores.

Seriously, take care of yourself, though. I'm glad people were there to supoort you. That bit is the serious bit to focus on. I'm kind of glad I haven't got a clue about all the other stuff, I just thought one user was being a bit grumpy last week and wanted to control how people on the forum talked in case they were reading it because they felt it "wasn't like the old days" or something. Obviously it has escalated into something more and i'm really not following the summary of events. Don't worry about trying to explain it to me, though, i'm sure it will get sorted by the admins. I honestly haven't really got the mental bandwidth to take it all in or deal with anything like that anyway as it would take a lot of reading through the site, and too much online negativity is kind of why i'm happier staying offline at the moment.

@Ravix
As you and a couple of other people have already said. That one guy could of just scrolled past her comments, or settled for the ignore button even and let it be. But instead he turned it into one big piss party following it up with a few snide remarks, and even one prior to that, which said ,"She'lll probably say her uncle works at nintendo next" Like, really? Smells like jealousy. I hate it when people try and dictate how other people should act and behave. "Less is more" like whatever. Less is less the way I see it. We don't need the forums to feel like they're an extension of YT's talk backs.

But that's social media for you. It's usually never representiive of how people would actually converse face to face. 99% of us would probably be all smiles, happily agreeing to disagree, topped with a few fist bumps. lol But when you give somebody the power to hide behind a computer screen thousands of miles away as Mr. Anonymous without any consequences at play, then you're going to experience what people really have on their minds, most of which, wouldn't dare cast or project any level of shade in person face to face.

I'm no prize myself. i've said plenty of dumb things along the way throughout the epic 25-something years that I've been using the internet, since like 2000. I'm guilty myself as most of us are!

But ya, if somebody is in a position, where they don't have much of an oppurtunity to be vocal, just to open up, to vent, to express how they feel, and talk about whatever it is they want to discuss, in detail, and the forums(etc) allows them to, and it helps fill the void, than go for it. That's what the chit chat & deep discussion thread and whatever else are here for. I mean lets face it, most of us on here irl may have friends & family, but they're not into gaming. And video games after all, or any hobbie for that matter are meant to be shared. It's all about human relationships, and what would video games be without that? They'd be soulless. Still, the forum stuff is all temporary. people come and go, things change, and that's that.

Still, at this point, I'd struggle to turn on my NS1 or PS5 if i weren't hitting up the forums, and YouTube's talk backs talking about all things video game related. As most of us probably would. When I was a kid & teen, my world was a lot larger, i always had a large group of friends, I'd hang out with their friends, school friends and plenty of cousins to share and talk about video games with including so much more back in the late 80's & 90's. But that all started to change in my mid to late 20's, beacuse of life stuff. People change, their hobbies change, responsibilities kick in, the 9-5, people start their own families, they move away etc. This is where forums, YT(etc) obviously come into play.

And to think, if the internet didn't exist, we'd have to really push ourselves to get out there and meet people that share the hobby, maybe at gaming convensions, local video game store hangouts(I remember MicroPlay back in the late 90's doing mini PS1 tournaments and the winner would get free video game rentals for like a week. Barely anybody would show up. lol) or whatever else. I was in the Art institute for game art & design back when i was about 22 for a little bit, before deciding to bail out of that plane, but I met a few pretty cool people during that short 2 month span back in 2006. But unfortuantely we stopped talking a few years later after that and lost contact. Bummer. They must of resented my handsomeness. lol It's the cheak bones and 1.5 dimples, I'm telling you man. lol jk

@WaveBoy Seeing you in this thread wasn't confusing at all, hi again though. And thank you for saying all of that, you didn't have to. I didn't understand your video posted that day either, I do now which means technically you were the first person to actually say something. For months I said nothing, people said I needed to, I didn't know what to say to a Moderator. Or today or yesterday, I explained and was still confused.

  • Have you used actual social-media before such as Reddit, Facebook, Friendster, what did you do on there? From what I gather it's almost like taking every thread from here, condensing it down to one person and hearing that one person's view on a topic, i.e. today I ate a banana, today I watched Batman, today I walked through here, the thing is I see two issues. One it's one person so where's the conversation or input from others, and two telling people where you walk each day is dangerous. If a crazy person decides to capture you or unalive you then social-media is a way to find you. You yourself are fine, you can muscle punch them etc, but in my mind someone like me my size and my gender if I did that then I allow my Ego to take a bigger place than my personal safety. Then there are politics too, an echo-chamber of the kind of propaganda I have to live under, but they enter it voluntarily.

I'm no prize myself. i've said plenty of dumb things along the way throughout the epic 25-something years that I've been using the internet, since like 2000. I'm guilty myself as most of us are!

  • Can I ask what's the craziest appropriate thing you experienced on or from the internet?

That's what the chit chat & deep discussion thread and whatever else are here for. I mean lets face it, most of us on here irl may have friends & family, but they're not into gaming.

  • My Family see gaming as a kind of mental illness, my Partner sees it as a way for me to build, express myself, explore new worlds, no one ever talks to me about gaming offline. I see my Families interests and views on war as a mental illness. Those words are treason but I see it like we learned how to destroy so many lives on a massive scale, without getting passed the mental illness of wanting to do it in the first place. That to me is mental illness, not gaming, gaming is freedom.

And video games after all, or any hobbie for that matter are meant to be shared. It's all about human relationships, and what would video games be without that? They'd be soulless. Still, the forum stuff is all temporary. people can and go, and that's that.

  • I'll keep talking to people regardless, I'll just move my really lost posts to the new thread out of respect to what people said, and I mean more than one person, but like today and with Northern_Munkey I'll still use chitchat, Russaphobia didn't run me off and it had years, barrages of insults, threats to my actual life, things I can't and never will repeat, but one person? not in their, yours or my lifetime. If I ever leave it will always be on my terms, if someone tries to scare me away or manufacture craziness then I'll still feel sorry for them, pop them in my prayers and hope they one day realize how short life actually is, not to waste it. I believe in karma, hurting people is bad karma.

@Ravix Good grief, buddy! I hadn't seen the Wolverine scores when I stopped by yesterday, otherwise I might not have been such a jerk about the Zelda news!

Out of everybody's drafts, I would have thought the latest Insomniac superhero blockbuster was one of the safest bets, and yet here we are, hoping it won't cost you points...?! Well, thank goodness you have GTA VI to cushion the blow (although, speaking of safe bets, I suppose I shouldn't tempt fate)!

"If I let not knowing anything stop me from doing something, I'd never do everything!"

GirlVersusGame

Oh I just noticed Ravix picked Wolverine for BoobiSoft. I remember saying Wolverine as my choice when we started but it was too late, I knew someone stole it, but I thought TheSoloution did, so we never had Wolverine after all. How do we know who's winning? or is it still too early. Is someone going to sneakily hire Wavey as their PR/marketing too? That's how I got in with PretendoEnt.

Edit: If I could manage one post this week without having to fix a typo, it's going to happen eventually. That was a short post too and I still saw a missing word.

@Th3solution Hope this finds you well, buddy. Saw that Rayman Legends Retold got delayed and had a minor panic on your behalf, before reading that it's still gonna release within the year! Only just, mind. Hey, it's not a proper victory unless it's by the skin of your teeth, right...?!

@Werehog @Ravix @Tjuz
I congratulate you all for your cute little games with Critic scores in the 70’s and 80’s. How quaint. Please excuse me as I pop the champagne for being the first game to eclipse the 90 mark. 🍾 🥂

I’m happy to accept any resignations from the competition for those who wish to just yield to my dominance now in order to save yourself the embarrassment of defeat later.

I’ll be back with more comments and updates from Pretendo and Sol’s world after I sober up. 🎉

@Th3solution (Ravix is on a kind of break focusing on Dawnwalker Come Deliverance. It's been a rough week, in summation I've been deathly sick for days, someone I care about was doxed by a fool, then they stole my pictures from this site and started messaging her but she's no fool herself and she knew it wasn't me and so tore into them. Also there's a new thread for longer posts because some people thought mine were too long, imagine that. It's called the Deeper Discussion thread and Sarge was kind enough to make it. Other than that Tjuz has been busy with work and learning to fish, and Werehog has been off in his Starship Enterprized. I'm mostly trying to get my energy back, my fevers finally down but everything is moving in slow motion still)

@GirlVersusGame Oh, cripes… sounds like it’s been an eventful few weeks. Here’s hoping you’re making a good recovery and all is getting back to normal.

It sounds like Rav, Tj, and Rog all have been buried in their own issues and activities. I’ve been swamped and everytime I seem to get a few minutes to catch up on Push Square stuff, the time disappears as new fires erupt for me to put out in my life. I’m not out of the woods yet and have a big project this next week and expect to put more long hours in and so I don’t know that I’ll be present much for a number of days. I happened to see the headline for Trails in the Sky: 2nd Chapter review and wanted to quickly drop in to gloat. Now in retrospect my comment seems a bit brash, but it’s all tongue-in-cheek.

And yes, thank you, @werehog I appreciate the outreach and the info on Rayman. Sounds like I’ll be ok still to get it in before the deadline, but it does make for some extra gluteal clenching toward the end of the year because I can’t afford for them to delay it again and go into 2027. But on a related note, congrats on Zelda hitting a firm date now.

And for @Ravix , I was a little surprised about Wolverine being a slight disappointment. Still…79 can hardly be considered a flop. The bar for our games is just incredibly high!
I have some small updates on DS2 and AW, but I don’t have time to properly compose my thoughts so I might leave them later on the respective threads.
