@WanderingBullet lol Yeah, even though I'm 95% digital on Switch, I went physical on FFXII in order to get that reversible box art. It's just too pretty.
@RogerRoger Completely forgot about XC2's special edition. It is pretty gorgeous, even if the He-Man'ish pose of the game's goofy young protagonist does crack me up.
Too bad the leaked box art for XC: Definitive Edition is terrible.
I love it because it's a bit cheesy and campy, yet simultaneously sincere.
That's actually a pretty good description of Xenoblade 2's vibe overall.
The game is filled to overflowing with anime tropes, but the people who wrote the script clearly cared about the characters and their struggles, which makes it very easy to grow attached to the cast.
Also, the music is amazing. Maybe not the best OST of 2017 (NieR: Automata and Persona 5 are tough competition), but probably right below them.

Early impressions are good, although there is a little less novelty in this group. That said, there are some gems in there, as well as some hidden treasures.
@Th3solution That’s probably due to modern covers being a little less varied. Looking forward to a possible bonus round of worst covers though, I found some absolute stinkers 😂😂
@Th3solution Flicking through the album I noticed the Witcher Steelbooks I nominated weren't in there. Was there a problem with them? I realise I used a photo of all 3 variants, should I have found seperate photos?
@Th3solution, looking through the Round 2 selection I noticed Final Fantasy: Four Heroes of Light is present, which is a regular DS game (so it shouldn't be eligible for this round).

@Kidfried Yeah, I have had a little Corona chaos in my life as well. So I can relate. Since the US government is giving income tax deadline extensions, I’ll give you a one day extension and let you submit 5 entries if you’d like, since you didn’t get to submit any 😄

@RogerRoger Doing fine, thanks for checking. 😄 Just organizing my thoughts here and cleaning up the list. For some reason I didn’t do as good a job at keeping my master list updated this round. If you have a moment, just run through the album and see if you see any obvious mistakes.
I was giving @Kidfried a day to make some submissions, but I think we might move on now.
Where possible I tried to replace the images with higher quality ones, or selected images that highlighted the art more closely. It was kind of tricky for steelbooks, so we have those separated. So if the image in the album looks slightly different than what you submitted, then that is probably intentional.
I also tried to label the games in the album if there wasn’t a clear name of the game on the cover art. So look to the art itself first for the name, then if it’s in Japanese or not written on the game, hopefully I’ve labeled it. Bring it to my attention if you see errors.
I might have missed some entries. If you notice duplicates or that any of your entries are missing then let me know.
I’m going to start with a few smaller, easier groups to vote on and decrease the size of the list down in a piecemeal fashion. It will be similar to Round 1, but more phases with lower numbers per group.
The first group is the Steelbook group. A total of 17 Steelbook Art was nominated.
We will whittle this down to a top 4 which will move on, the rest will be eliminated.
